Anyone ever travel to Hawaii?

Hello,
My husband and I are considering Hawaii as our first travel nursing location, anyone ever been on assignment there? If so, what hospital and how would you rate your experience? Any tips or suggestions?

Thanks!

Default Re: Anyone ever travel to Hawaii?
Spent a year in Hawaii in the 90's. The first six months were great. Got Island fever shortly there after and didn't enjoy the last 6 months. Transportation is something you really need to think about. I lasted about 2 weeks and then bought a motorcycle. Couldn't stand waiting for the bus all the time. Renting a car get's expensive fast. I know people who shipped their car over and back. Don't know the cost but apparently it was worth it. Had to share my appartment and pay a portion of the rent. Was near downtown Honolulu and worked at Kapiolani Hospital for Women and Children. Very nice people there. It's been remodeled since I was there, but L&D was in the Basement and the ER had only 3 rooms. Hope to go back someday but will not stay more than the 6 month assignment. Oahu is probably the best Island for the first assignment. Maui or Hawaii will be my second assignment if I ever get back.
