Am I being taken advantage of?

Hey everyone! I'm gearing up to take my first travel assignment in the new year, and I have been working with American Travelers, mostly.

My recruiter called yesterday to ask if I wanted to be submitted to 2 jobs in CT, one in Greenwich and one in Norwalk.

The take home pay, after housing, would be $19.80 (Greenwich) and $30 (Norwalk). I was shocked at how low this is. Granted, I don't have any experience traveling yet and I don't know anyone that travels personally, so I thought I would come to the source. Does this sound right? If not, to I request more, or move to a different company?

Thanks so much!

Gaby

Yes, shop around! That is the only way to find out if you are being paid market wages. But you may not be getting the full pay details. Often per diems and housing stipends play a large part in your total pay.

Greenwich and Norwalk area prob is high housing cost. It is also a quick hop on the train for NYC. Still I would think $20 is on the low side. I get $28 plus night shift for another part of the state but I am paying rent. I am a staff nurse, therefore do not get tax free benefits but I still think that is a bit on the lower end.
