Advice Canadian Travel Nurse - Work in the USA

I currently am studying for my NCLEX. I am a registered nures in canada.

I am interested in working as a travel nurse across America.

Does anyone have any suggestions. What to look for when picking an agency, do I work for a hospital or an agency? Just any advice

Thanks

Apply to more than one agency and find a recruiter you like. I have been traveling for just one year and have worked for AMN, Cross Country, and NursesRX, I also have a recruiter at Medical Express that I talk to regularly. People keep telling me its the recruiter that matters. I love traveling but am having trouble finging an agency that I like well enough to work with exclusively. Good Luck!

HEy! actually no i failed the exam. I studied lots of questions for about 2 months every day. the Day before the exam came and I freaked, I downloaded a bunch of hard questions from these websites and I had to drive 4 hours to duluth minnesota to write it, and I didn't relax, I went to bed late I could not sleep up all night, finally the clock said 3 am. i woke up early at 6 tried to have a good breakfast, then I went there for 630 I didn't even have to be at the exam place till 730, I studied some lab values the night before.. Not sure why I felt the needed to cram, I have never studied so much for an exam ever until this one. So as I was writing the exam, I was like oh my god, I need to finish this and go to sleep, I didn't even read the questions until I was passed 75 and i'm like ohh no what did i do, then i started getting the same similar questions twice around, it stopped at 152.
I failed. But I rebooked for May 11th. MY Biggest advice Sleep and relax at least 2 days.

So As for recruiters, I havnt looked yet I need to pass first, then i'll apply for a visa. Iv looked into a couple but my other friend failed the nclex too. I feel like this exam is a lost cause. I have even been working for a year.

Good luck to you and message this forum and tell me how you did !

Hey ichrist2
That really sucks that you didnt pass. I guess you were just really stressed about it. Im a bit confused how the exam works... I mean I have been reading some post and some people say that if you get 75 questions you passed but if you get more that you fail but then I have heard the other way around. So im not exactly sure how it works.. Well, I have been also working for the last year and 1/2 I really want to go to the states just to experiance life. However, Im hearing mixed reviews because jobs may be pinched because of the economy! ANyway, let me know what you think!!!

Hello! So I passed my exam! I am trying to apply for different agencies. I have a year experience but for 6 months I worked on Oncology/Medical now I'm in cardiac care. Since I changed areas, I need a full year in cardiac care. Its hard to find out what travel agency is reliable. They say its slow right now for jobs and its competitive. Have you figured out anything yet!
