Is $27.50 a norm rate for San Diego? It seems like a rip-off cause I know its expensive to live there. Anyone every worked at Pomerotto? hospital?

You should be getting housing paid for by your agency along with getting more per hour. Put a resume on Monster.com and you will get a ton of better offers for traveling.

I am in San Diego working right now , native californian. I have worked all over CA and find San Diego to be lowest paying highest cost of living area.....why? I think many nurses want to live here because nice weather and less conjested than LA
so both agencys and hospitals can pay less and ...nurses are willing to work for less. sad but true.

I did an agency day while visiting family in SD & got only $3 more an hour than my regular job in Maryland. I got a CA RN license in case I wanted to make some money during a visit. I get $10 more an hour working agency in Maryland than my regular nursing job. The sad thing about that agency day is that I signed up for an 8 hour day shift & was begged by the charge nurse to stay for 4 more hours & then come back the next day to work another 12 hour shift. I wish I could have helped her out but I had other things planned & I just wanted to see how agency was in SD & not work the whole time. I made some extra spending money & when I returned home, my parents said the agency called several times to ask me to work even though I told them I was only in town for a short time. Sad state of nursing there
