- Jan 30 by Kimbers2882Quote from marylynn70You should do the CPR for Healthcare Providers. If you do it at AHA or Red Cross it is the more expensive one. You can actually do it at the Junior League of Houston for free if you can find and open class... they fill fast though!Does anyone know exactly which CPR training we need? - Feb 2 by gcc00Hi,
I just got accepted to the summer accellerated program (had to turn down spring 2013). Anyway, I have tons of questions. Your information is great. I will be commuting from The Woodlands, how many times per week were you required to be on campus? I was told my clinicals would be in The Woodlands, but who knows. The parking situation sounds horrible. Any information would be great and congratulations on your achievements!!!Thanks!!! - Feb 2 by gcc00Quote from Brandig07Hi,Ooh parking is atrocious. There are two remote TMC lots you can use, the Smithlands and Brown lots. They run 6 bucks a day or 66 a month for a contract. You do get to ride TMC white for free, so you can get dropped off right at the corner of Bertner and Holcombe if you use the Brown lot. Smithlands is too far for school but great for Methodist or St. Luke's clinicals. You can also opt for a garage spot right behind UTHSC. It is 89 a month and is renewed on a semester basis. Lastly, there is the Mays garage across the street. Technically you aren't supposed to park there, but if you park on the 3rd level, they tend to not care. It is about 10 a day. It's very close and I parked there all the time as did many class mates. You also have the option of riding the metro and parking out at a park and ride. You can get a student pass so it is a reduced rate, and there is a stop right at the corner.

We're on campus 3 days a week (Mon-Wed). I'm guessing that summer semester would be the same. Once clinicals start, I'll have that on Thursday (half the class goes Thurs and the other on Friday). You can choose which area you want to do clinicals in, but you're not guaranteed anything (it seems like the school tries to accommodate everyone as best as they can, though). If you can find someone to trade w/you though, that's allowed. Yes parking is terrible/expensive. I park at garage 8 on Holcombe & Pressler for $6/day (the cheapest price you'll find in the med center) then just walk over to the school, which takes me about 10 min. The school has a shuttle but I haven't taken that yet. I live on the west side of Houston so I don't know what would be best for you if you're commuting from the Woodlands, but at least you have time to figure it out! Feel free to post back here if you have any more questions.Hi,
