UTHSC-Houston Fall 2012 Applicants - Page 37
Register Today!- Feb 27, '12 by encephalon7Yes, I obtained a med-surg study book from my boyfriend and got some pointers on how to "think like a nurse". Think ABCs. Airway, Breathing then Circulation. So someone who is not breathing takes priority over someone bleeding out. Look out for patients who might fall, don't leave a patient alone if they could potentially hurt themselves, anticipate, anticipate. Your job, as a nurse (and as a Hesi test taker) is to PREVENT patient accidents. That is your no. 1 priority. Once I started thinking like that, my Hesi score got way better.
Hope that helps!

Critical Thinking really stumped me and thinking your way should certainly help. & I am going to try and find similar study materials.
- Feb 28, '12 by Krique39Be careful on how many times you take the HESI! For UTH, you can only take it twice. Ever. They are very strict when it comes to that.

- Mar 4, '12 by pRaYeRfuLFine. Trying to be patient but also hopeful that we will have hold changes like before!
- Mar 4, '12 by rmegsterI'm trying to limit my email, myuth, and all nurses stalking to keep my sanity intact, but having the "what will be, will be" attitude is so hard when you are so passionately wanting to get in to nursing school!!
I hope everyone had a great weekend!Krique39 likes this. - Mar 4, '12 by pRaYeRfuLI agree... same here. I am assuming this is the week most of us have been waiting for. Well only if we are lucky enough to have holds appear like the groups before. I will keep everyone posted if I notice any changes.
- Mar 4, '12 by nyctransplantHas everyone received their transcript eval? I feel like I'm the only one in this world here that hasn't gotten theirs yet. I check every single day. I'll call tomorrow, but should I be worried? Even if I didn't do well in any of the requirements, I would think I would still get one! Arrrrgh!
- Mar 4, '12 by pRaYeRfuLI got one but not sure if it is something that they do for everyone. I would try calling them, but maybe it is just for those of us who they are not able to determine standing right off. I have grades from the past that I am not proud of but more recent work has been good, so I am sure just looking at my grades unorganized does not look so great.
Hopefully there is nothing to worry about.
- Mar 4, '12 by Krique39I still haven't gotten mine yet either, so you are not alone! Hopefully we'll get one this week. This might sound hokey, but I keep thinking of a line from Charlotte's Web: Chin UP! We will get through this!pRaYeRfuL likes this.
