Hi, just wanted to start a trend about where you applied, call backs, interviews and who all got hired.

Would love to hear your stories and anything else to help other graduating nurses.

Specializes in ICU.

Great posts, I'll be looking for internships in the Houston area in June of 2012. So far I've found internships at Memorial Hermann, Christus St. Catherines, and Methodist (BSN only). I'm sure there's some other internship opportunities I've overlooked, can anybody think of any off the top of their head?

Commonsense, St. Lukes, MD Anderson and Texas Children's offers internships too. There are also a lot of smaller hospitals all around Houston, branches of the Tenet system and the HCA hospitals.

Thank you Cindyrella, I'll graduate with my ADN so some of the internships are off limits. I checked out the St. Lukes and MD Anderson internships though and they're definitely worth a shot.

OP- good luck on your interview! Wow them :) .. Oh a side note, did anyone else interview with Memorial Hermann on Tuesday for "Match day?"

Congrats everyone on your interviews!!!

Plover1, how was the interview with Harris County Hospital District? I have applied there but have not yet heard anything back.

Has anyone else interviewed with HCHD yet?

It was good...I pray LOL. I met with the nurse director of education and nurse recruitor. they are doing call backs to setup 2nd interviews with nurse managers next week . So will see. Will Keep you all posted. Hopefully you will here something soon.

I am glad it went well for you! Good luck!

Do you know how many people they are interviewing and how many they plan to hire?

Thanks.

I do not know how many people they are interviewing or plan to hire on each unit. I just knowat BT in the ER , they supposely had 7 opens for new grads.

What is Match Day?

Hey everyone!

What are y'all doing to get interviews? If you don't mind sharing! I've applied online for EVERYTHING I am remotely qualified for and EVERY New Grad job I find but haven't gotten ANY call backs! I've had my resume reviewed by several people and that doesn't seem to be the problem. I do have an ADN but I'm already enrolled in a RN-BSN program. I have my license. GPA and test scores (HESI) are very good. I just don't know what else to do ... Any info/advice?

Thanks!:)

Hey Mam, you sound like a good candidate by paper. You never know how employers select potential GNs. Everywhere I applied, I attached a cover letter , resume and refrences . Certain hospitals that did not specific dates set up for interviews, I called them to find out. For example, The Woman's Hospital of Texas actually wanted you to call them if you applied to a staff position.

Other then that, praying and having patience is what I am doing. Give it some time before you stress out or give up.

PS, Glad you going back to get your BSN.
