UTHSCSA Traditional BSN Application Fall 15

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hey guys!

So the application to start in the Fall of 2015 is due on February 1st. Really, that is right around the corner if you think about it!

Let this thread be dedicated to all hopefuls!

I still have to take the Teas V, but I did buy the study guide with 2 tests so hopefully that helps. My cumulative GPA will be 3.2ish and my pre-req GPA will be close to 4.0. I'm extremely anxious about getting in that is for sure!

Well, I've got all but 2 of my transcripts submitted to NursingCAS. I still need this semesters classes (Microbiology at SAC, and Intro Chem II at NVC), but I'm going to get those sent out maybe a week after the semester is over.

Are you guys taking anything in the Spring? I just registered for 3 other classes I thought might be of help.

-First Aid (you can get the BLS after finishing this course)

-Medical Terminology (I've heard from current UTHSCSA nursing students that this is a really good course to take prior to starting)

-Elementary Spanish with a focus in medical terminology (I've lived here for over 10 years, and I speak barely any Spanish :p )

I'm going to Corpus Christi for Thanksgiving with family, and I'm taking my TEAS book with me to start studying, then take the exam in late December/early January. I'm also currently getting my immunizations in order so I won't have to mess with them later, assuming I get in the first time.

Yes I am taking Ethics, Art Appreciation, and Texas government. Then I will be completely done with the prereqs. :) Gettin' close everyone!

5 more days until my Teas V.

Tomorrow, I'll be half way done with my study book for the TEAS (got just a little bit left with the math part). A lot of this stuff I remember from grade school. Some of it I'm trying to recall, as we can't use a calculator, so I'm having to try and do this stuff by hand again. I'd like to have it done by the end of this month or very early next month.

Also, I'm waiting for our final grades to be posted so I can get my last 2 transcripts put together and get that done. Do you guys know if we have to submit our TEAS score with the NursingCAS application, in the section where it optionally asks for test scores? Or are the scores just sent automatically from the testing site to the school of our choice (i.e. UTHSCSA)?

No you don't have to put the teas scores in the testing section of the nursingcas app. The scores get sent automatically if you took the teas at a PSI center. If you didn't take it at a PSI center, then you need to get the scores sent

I got an 81.3% on my teas test!

Awesome, thanks for the info! I was caught up in doing stuff at University (hospital) today so I wasn't able to go out to SAC and NVC to get my transcript forms turned in, so I'll have to do that Monday, but once those are received, I'll be ready to submit my application. Then it's just the TEAS exam left.

And ratlady, congrats on the score! :D

You can just send you transcript forms through email! I wasted a trip to NVC by going in person. The lady told me I had to email my transcript form as a PDF to [email protected]

Hello everyone. I am glad to see that there is a thread for UTHSCSA for Fall 2015, since I am also applying. I had a question to ask you all regarding the NursingCAS application. I noticed that there are a lot of sections that are optional within the application such as standardized tests, references, achievements and etc. Did you all just go ahead and just fill these parts out? I did email and call admissions regarding the topic but I haven't gotten a clear answer.

I went to one of their info sessions and they said to just fill out transcript information, nothing for your highschool. And I think the teas is sent directly to the school. They get everything else in the supplementary application they give you which is kind of like a "pre acceptance" packet.

Thanks Ratlady. I've been slowly filling it out with the transcript information and the personal information. It just seems like a waste of $45 to send such a small amount of information and leave so much empty. Have you all already finished and submitted the NursingCAS application?

I've all been trying to study for the TEAS test, I'm taking it January 24th...I know I'm cutting it close. I'm just really nervous about taking it since basically your whole acceptance to UTHSCSA relies on it.

And congrats ratlady on your score!!

I haven't submitted it yet, but I have sent in all of my transcripts. They aren't there yet. And I've filled in my grades from my unofficial transcripts. I'm worried they won't take my microbiology. It's from when I was in lab tech school and on the transcript it says "microbiology and parasitology" for 12 credits.

I requested that my transcript from the Alamo Colleges be sent to NursingCAS last week but I'm pretty sure they are not there yet because of the holiday vacation. When you attended the information session did you ask about that class being accepted as your microbiology credit? The class isn't called Microbiology 2420?

When you all registered for the test through psi exams, I was wondering if the exam was a written one or one on the computer. I heard that the TEAS is done both ways. Thanks
