UTHSCSA May 2011

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I've been watching all the UTHSCSA posts for a while waiting for someone to start one up for the May 2011 accelerated program, and finally decided to take the initiative and see if there is anyone else out there that will be or hope to be attending the program.

Has anyone taken the TEAS downtown at UTSA and gotten their scores back? Mine are still blocked and I want to know how I did... :(

Also, anyone else hear back yet? I'd love to find out who my future classmates are!!

so i got the email and how crazy are some of those costs!!!! I too have come to the conclusion that I will be in debt for a real long time!! another $15,000 added to the school loans I already owe :/ oh well it'll be worth it. I was talking to one of the nurse practitioners I work for (my plan is to continue my education and get my MSN) and he was telling me about the health service corps. it's a program that you work for and on top of salary they pay off all of your school debt!!! Sounded good to me that's for sure haha!

I'm so glad we have more students coming forward for our class! My aunt works as the secretary for the dean of nursing and she told me that theres 62 students in the Accelerated Program for next year! So it should be interesting :)

About me, I was born and raised in San Antonio. Have my bachelor's degree in biology from UTSA. And am super excited about being accepted into nursing school because for a while I wasn't too sure what I was going to do. :/

health service corps?? you have any info on it? that sounds like a deal that is too good to be true!

for those that are new(er than me) to sa, welcome!! it took a little bit of getting used to for me, but now i love it! personally, i would suggest studying a map for a while- the streets are very confusing here.

I was reading with the parking it varies depending on what lot you get... and you want to get on the waiting list asap... but (im a big nerd and already went and found stuff out) because we do not start until may.. we wont be in the system till april so we cant get on a waiting list until then- booo.

thank you so much for the email btw, VERY helpful... and honestly, made me feel a lot better. I had looked at the CO they had online and from how I understood it (clearly wrong) i was looking at like 60,000.... so... 15,000 is music to my ears right now haha.

Could someone please email me the tuition costs thing? My email is [email protected] Thanks!

I got the email, thanks Melly!

Hi fellow classmates!

I'm glad to finally see this thread on here. My name is Whitney and I am Biology grad from UTSA. I look forward to getting to know you all during the program. Here is some info on the nursing loan repayment and scholarship programs offered by the US Dept. of Health. They are both incredibly advantageous if you are eligible to participate in either opportunity:

Just a friendly reminder to check your email (even spam because my email was in the spam folder) because I just got my user name and temporary password.

I think you have to set up two different passwords, one for our livemail emails and the other for inside.uthscsa. I haven't been able to figure out blackboard though.

so how is everyone doing with their required documents?! :) It's funny because I am so anxious about getting everything in asap even though registration isn't until April and school doesn't start until May. Better safe than sorry. ;)

Glad everyone got it, so we have to wait to get on the waiting lists for the parking permits? Man thats not good ....can someone explain how the parking lots work?

Me too!! I am scheduled to get fingerprinted this weekend or whatever the background check entails, I have my appts to get immunizations starting on the 17th of Jan, I am getting on my hubby's insurance soon, but I have yet to tackle my FAFSA (YIKES!!!) How about everyone else?

I've been able to get my background check (just waiting for the clearance card), and immunizations/insurance completed. I am in the process of filling out my FAFSA. It is a pain and the support/help on the actual website is not helpful at all, but I was able to speak with one of the financial aid counselors at UTHSCSA today and she was super informative. I found out that financial aid won't be disbursed until about mid-April, so that's something to keep in mind when trying to figure out finances/how much you will need to take out in loans. I still need to complete my CPR cert, HIPPA and BSTAT training courses.

I signed up for a permit on the waitlist via this link: https://hscparking.t2hosted.com/cmn/index.aspx

So, I too have been super excited... got my fafsa done, fingerprints/background check- just waiting on the blue paper, turned in my shots records and did the HIPPA and BSTAT cert ... just have to make a copy of my CPR cert and figure out what I want to do for insurance and turn in financial aid stuff.

For parking, what lot did you get on the waiting list for? I dont know where they are...
