UTHSC-Houston Spring 2013

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi,

I am new to allnurses.com and I wanted to start a topic for the Spring 2013 applicants at UTHSC Houston. Where we can keep each other posted on the process as it nears. I have yet to take the HESI but i wonder if anyone else has taken it and what their score was. I will compile my GPA's later and post them on here.

Thanks for your comments

Im actually emailing the school right now about transfering credits. I saw a few people comment about some students getting accepted but some of their credits wouldnt transfer for whatever reason. I asked how to find out if all of them transfer or not because if there is ANY issue I want to have time to sort it out before Jan 14th.

She asked me if I received an evaluation and I told her yes so Im waiting to hear back from her. I think the evaluations will indicate what they will take or wont take...etc. So far I think Im good to go.

And no im sure your application has been received and looked at. Some people get them some people dont. One on here said she got accepted then got her evaluation. If you get accepted here soon you can call the school and request one to check over everything.

I actually haven't received my course/transcript evaluation in the mail yet! What exactly is the evaluation for? If I haven't received mine yet does that mean my application hasn't been looked at?

I received my evaluation the day after I was accepted (my eval came in the mail last Friday). Everyone else here received one like a month or 2 before me, so I just assumed I wouldn't get one. I had a few classes that I took out of state and I was afraid that there'd be an issue transferring them to UT, so the eval was important to me. It'll tell you which classes the school is counting as electives, which ones aren't being considered (non-prereqs that aren't being used as electives), which requirements are satisfied, and which aren't. It also lists your GPA based on all that.

I just my evaluation yesterday...finally

I really hope I get in. UT is my dream school. This is my second time applying so I really hope they accept me this time around. I really want to go here and I have been praying to get in. This waiting is so hard because I feel my future is in their hands.

what are your stats Kekebrwn

hello lovelies, this is my first time posting though i confess i've been searching around on the thread for someone who might have a similar issue to mine.... no success yet! i was accepted into the program spring 2013. unfortunately, when i got my transcripts evaluation, i wasn't awarded credit for some of my courses. i'm pretty sure i could petition a few of them (for example, i didn't receive english credit but i have written and defended a thesis as a russian literature major). the one that has me worried, though, is that i took intro to anthro instead of intro to soc on the advice of my counselor of HCC when i was finishing up my prerequisites. at the moment, my pre reqs aren't showing up on my to do list online. i wrote them a petition with the descriptions of the courses i took from the various course catalogs as well as a justifcation for why they would fulfill each requirement. aiyiyiyiyiyi, i hope this works out!!

many congrats to the peeps who have been accepted so far and many deep cleansing breaths to those who are waiting to hear back!

Ive been MIA for a few weeks, i started a new job and just didnt have time to check the forum. I got my eval yesterday in the mail so i decided to check this site to see if anyone else did and was surprised to see people were already accepted! I checked my uth right away and nothing! Ugly yellow triangle :(

My Transcript evaluation shows a horrible overall GPA, I do not know how they got that number because it is definetely not the same number the other schools I applied to got. My pre-req GPA is 3.275 and my Science GPA 3.0, I only got a 92 on the HESI so I think my chances of getting in are very low, compared to everyone else's amazing stats! :(

what are your stat. s Kekebrwn
My prerequisite Gpa is 3.38 and science is 3.06. I made an 87 on the Hesi but I took some parts UT does not even require so it could be higher and I also winded up in urgent care a few hours before the test. : ( My CT score is 850. I have two previous Bachelor's degrees.

missophiecase-- I had the same problem, fortunately it was only one class and it was cleared. I had taken an Intermediate Statistics for my degree and they wanted me to take Intro to Statistics. Which to me did not make sense why I was not given credit. You are on the right track--email admissions.

I was told to to write the Course Number, Description, and provide a link for classes you want re-evaluated. I received an email that same day saying my statistics would be given credit.

Worse comes to worse---if you are focused on starting in January and depending on how many classes you need. HCC offers 3 week mini semesters for most basic classes. However you can only take one at a time..but other community colleges do as well. So maybe try taking one at each college-- LoneStar College, Alvin Community College, Wharton County Junior College, and San Jacinto Community College.

Best of Luck!! Hope you will receive credit.

i had a similar problem to you guys...well...

on my evaluation one of my courses did not show up. I spoke with records at HCC and they assured me that it was on my transcript. After several months of back and forth UTHSC still doesn't show it on my evaluation or on the transcript they received, but the official transcript I have from HCC shows it. I don't understand it at all. Logically, how would HCC have let me graduate without finishing all my prereqs, but then how does it not show up on the transcript that was sent to UTHSC?

I'm not sure how to fix it anymore. I think the person I was talking to at UTHSC is tired of all my emails because he hasn't replied to the last email I sent that included everything - even the emails from HCC showing that I took and passed the missing course...
