UTHSC-Houston Fall 2012 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:

Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75

Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0

Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.

My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -

Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30

Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! :crying2: )

Overall Gpa: 3.28

Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.

My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.

Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!

If you already live in Texas and have lived in Texas for over 1 year, then it should be pretty immediate. If you HAVE NOT lived in Texas for AT LEAST one full year, then you are going to be stuck paying out-of-state tuition for at least one semester or until you HAVE lived in Texas for at least one full year.

Wow, that was a lot!!

Do I sound like I work at the Registrar's office? lol Someone in our class actually HAD this problem:(

I have my email :yeah: It is official :w00t:

I can honestly say I am SUPER excited!! I know that when all the holds started happening I said that I was pretty set for UTMB..... At this time, I can say that I think that I am giving up my UTMB spot. I thought I knew what I wanted, and that it didn't matter one way or another as long as I got to the end path of being an RN. I was wrong. When I saw that check everything I thought I knew flew out the window. My heart was swollen with joy and my whole beinig is drawn to UTHSC. It is beneficial in so many ways for me.

Congrats to everyone who has gotten in, and there are still more spots available for students to be accepted. So to those still waiting..... Don't give up hope!!!

Has anybody started the FB group yet? I was gonna start one for those who have been accepted, if nobody else has put one together...... PLEASE let me know :)

ok so even if i graduated from high school in texas and went to college for 1.5 years in texas and those are some questions that are asked on the application so i thought maybe i could get in state tuition. what was the situation with the person in your class if you dont mind me asking?? so you dont think there is any chance i will be allowed to pay in state??

jenwilke - How long have you lived out of Texas? Have you been residing out of state for longer than a year?

yes my family moved to arkansas 2 years ago. but my boyfriend and the rest of my family live in houston and that is where i plan to work and live after graduation

I'm pretty sure there is no Facebook group. Making one would be highly appreciated.

jenwilke - if you actually changed your address, then you will be considered out of state. It does not matter where your family lives. If youe legally listed residence is still Texas (Ex:DL or State ID) and it has never been Arkansas, or hasn't been changed for long, then you should be fine for in state tuition. But being that you are still out of state, it appears you will be paying out of state tuition fees.

Ok thanks. That's unfourtante but I think it's worth it! No Facebook group has been created so if you make one post the link!

I need someone else from FB to create the group..... Gladiator 80, Warning sign, anybody interested? What is your FB name

I am trying to make one right now, but I must have a friend to invite :)

Here is my profile....

KatybusymomDid the person in your class receive a letter stating that they would be paying out of state tuition?

Unfortunately, since you have lived out of Texas for the past two years, it looks like they will charge you out-of-state tuition.

The person in our class had lived IN STATE for 11 months prior to the start of school and they still made her pay out-of-state tuition for one semester until her total In State residence equaled one full year. She asked to defer her acceptance for a semester b/c the tuition was so expensive, but the school said NO.
