UTHSC-Houston Fall 2012 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:

Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75

Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0

Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.

My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -

Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30

Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! :crying2: )

Overall Gpa: 3.28

Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.

My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.

Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!

WHEEEEW! Thanks @meghana09!!!! I haven't gotten my transcript eval yet and I'm biting every nail waiting for it. I was afraid I was gonna get hit with the fact I'd have to take some classes over thus pushing me back a semester or a year. Thanks again for posting!

Same here no transcriPt eval either ): it's freaking me out so bad. I really hope we get it soon cause its less than a month since admission decisions go out

HELP! Does anyone know if there's a statute of limitations to pre-req classes such as psychology, english, sociology, etc.??? I have a previous Bachelor's from years and years ago. I can't find that information anywhere on the UT site. Can anyone please help? I'm in such a panic!!!! Thanks everyone!

I want to say that we had to have taken all SCIENCE prereqs within the last 5 years and the others didn't matter. I have classmates that earned their bachelor's over 20 years ago and they only had to take the sciences to attend UT.

The science classes you'll get here are extremely fast paced, and they rely on the knowledge that you should already know from your A&Ps, Micro and Chem (if you have the chance to take ChemII after you've been accepted to the program here, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT).

As always though, it would be good to get ahold of the school just to make sure :)

I know y'all are getting antsy!

@ Warning Sign...

Is that list compiled from the stats of those who got in?

Heavykevy - I that list is those of us who have applied for the Fall 2012. I wished it was those of us who got in ;) lol

Warning-sign - I think Heavykevy is already attending, so you might want to remove them off the list

To thos of you who have not yet received a transcript evaluation, you can always call them to make sure that they have everything processed. I know I received mine, but I also had my application submitted by Nov 18-19th. Since it has been so long since my app, I know I am getting antsy..... lol! Less than a week till the information seminar and maybe some answers. I have all my questions from UTMB answered, now I am waiting on being able to ask the same of UTHSC. I sure hope that they are as informative as UTMB was, maybe even more ;) I unfortunately asked some questions that UTMB was not ready to answer. That is ok.... I know that what I asked had to do with some new policies that they had just put into effect.

what classes are chem based?

Pathophysiology has a lot of concepts that are more easily understood with a greater understanding of things like osmosis of electrolyte solutions and concentrations of Hydrogen ions, how pH works, etc. A few concepts of patho so far closely related to some stuff in chemII, which was nice.I feel like it made the first test a bit easier for me, but it's surely doable without.I hope y'all get your questions answered for the most part at that info session! Unfortunately, you may notice that UTH isn't as organized as some other schools you've applied to, but when you need to know something, rest assured they'll let you know.

So I dreamed last night that my UT Link changed and that it went from a green circle to a green check! Lol!

Hey guys! I finally decided to share my angst with those that most understand it and give my poor husband a break! I'm all caught up on the 3 forums I'm interested in, so now I'm feeling a little better. From what I've seen so far, I have much in common with a few contributors. I've applied at UTMB, TWU, & UTHSC for Fall 2012. (As if waiting to hear from 1 school isn't stressful enough, right?!) So happy to know that I'm not alone though! Best of luck to everyone!

Hi did anyone go to the information Meeting today?! If so any updates on anything?

I was just going to ask the same thing. Any news would be good news right about now.
