UTHSC-Houston Fall 2012 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:

Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75

Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0

Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.

My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -

Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30

Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! :crying2: )

Overall Gpa: 3.28

Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.

My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.

Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!

omg same here. This site and ut link is the most visited site for me. But i work 8-3 at a medical clinic five days a week and have evening classes tues and thurs. so i can make it through the week even though its always the back of my mind, especially since I still havent gotten my transcript evaluations. but its the weekends where I sit there and wonder and wonder and wonder... and drive me and my family crazy loll. so any suggestions will be helpfull for me too.

but i really want to go to the information session its just that I live in dallas and its a such a long drive for like 2 hours. plus, I went to the one in November. but you guys can update us!

Why do you check so often? Do you know that nothing new will come up until April when they start accepting people? I check maybe two times a week, but what is the point? Everytime I check, I see the exact same thing: nothing new. Knowing that nothing will change anytime soon makes me forget about it. I personally like to read the nursing topics on the side.

It should be updating in March! April will be on the late side!

Hey everyone! I am new to the site! A good friend of mine suggested I come here to help relieve some of my pre-acceptance/denial jitters while I anxiosly await a response for the fall 2012 semester. I guess no matter what the outcome, it is good to chat amongst others going through the same stress I have been dealing with for about the last month! :)

Here are my stats:

Pre-req GPA: 3.9

Science GPA: 3.8

HESI average: 92.7

Critical Thinking: 860

It should be updating in March! April will be on the late side!

Last semester it took 2 and a half months so by that standard updates should come around April 1

Meghana I am glad I am not alone :-)Warning-Sign I honestly do not know why I check so much.. maybe I should read more articles lol

Warningsign - I understand that April 1st would make sense if going of the old system, but we are on the new system. They informed me that UT links will start changing in Mid March sometime, and that official letters don't go out till April. I hope that they aren't misleading us. I'm hanging onto that small glimmer of hope that I will know sooner than later. She explained that they have worked out the glitches and that ALL accounts will change to either accepted or declined, unless your waitlisted.

Oh. That sounds like great news but, maybe it's just me, but why is everyone so anxious? Just let UTH do their work and wait for news whenever it comes. I'm in no rush and I'm pretty busy with other things, but that's just me. I can't wait to start the program but I don't see any changes coming up soon so I just let it be. I guess I'm not really worried about getting accepted or not. If I do, great, have to get ready. If I don't, then I'll try next semester and be better prepared. Again, that's just me.

According to the last information session they will let us know in March. Since we are using My UTH instead of UT Link it may show up differently than it has in the past. It is very nerve wracking...many people put their lives on a virtual 'hold' so to speak while waiting to figure out if they are able to start the next chapter in their lives. I have 3 kids, two of them are teenagers, one is graduating next year; I am beyond ready to finish school so that I can support my kiddos through their college lives! I finally have a Plan B if I don't get in but I am hoping that I have earned a spot in one of the Nursing Programs I have applied to. :) It's amazing how fast the time has been going by, but while waiting for a letter or an email or our status to change time goes by soooo slowly!!! It will come soon enough! Good Luck everyone!

HELP! Does anyone know if there's a statute of limitations to pre-req classes such as psychology, english, sociology, etc.??? I have a previous Bachelor's from years and years ago. I can't find that information anywhere on the UT site. Can anyone please help? I'm in such a panic!!!! Thanks everyone!

No there is no limit on how long ago you took the class (:
