I got the acceptance email around the 20th as well - was about to accept UTMB's offer. Finally got a reply to my questions about my transcript eval when I replied to the acceptance email; turns out that despite a degree in anthropology I still have to take intro to sociology. Thank goodness lonestar had one that runs 3/18-5/12. So we have orientation on the 15th and after that can register for classes? Do you know if we all go through them in the same order, as displayed on the curriculum online? or can we mix it up a bit? I'm taking patho and pharmacology for a backup school right not and can transfer those - leaving only 9 hours of classes in the summer. Not even full time!

What about housing? I hate commuting so I'm planning on living as close to the school as possible, but apartment searches haven't turned up much, despite the urban setting. It's either cheap and nasty or expensive and over the top, not much in the middle. And the student apartment options on their website got some pretty bad yelp reviews, offer little info, and seem to have a long waiting list anyway. Has anyone else had any luck in this department?

Also, I haven't officially accepted their offer yet because I bought a new laptop for school - which met all the requirements listed online, including "windows 7 or better." It has windows 8. MyUTH will NOT work with windows 8!! I've emailed the helpdesk, who were unhelpful and simply listed the operating systems that would work. Hopefully they update soon because I don't want to have to deal with finding a public computer every time I need to check My UTH. Does anyone know how to work around this? Maybe a plug-in to download?

Also can't find the FB page. Is it ticked off as private? Post a LINK already!

Yes, everything in the quotation marks. Search for "UTHSC Houston SON (Accelerated) Class of 2014," by inserting it in the Facebook search box AFTER you signed-in into your Facebook account.

I also can not find the facebook page.... I've searched everything. Can you please send the link?

Kittybitties, did UTHSC SON confirm that patho and pharmacology would transfer because at the info session they said you had to have them at UT and could not transfer those classes. I'm in the same boat as you as far as housing goes... the cheap ones are nasty and the good ones are ridiculous!! The search goes on as well as the planning!

Does anyone know where and when we have to get the drug test? and all the other stuff we have to do before starting?

I was actually wondering that as well. My UTH says we have to have all the checklist done by March 22, but that seems SO soon. I tried emailing to ask, but of course have heard nothing.

I was wondering if anyone knows what type of drug test it's going to be? I know it's bad since I'm going into nursing, but I have to mentally prepare for a blood test, if that's what it's going to be lol. Or if they're going to cut my hair.

When I asked they said it was highly unlikely that those classes wouldn't transfer - also I'm taking them at UT Arlington so that must count for something.

They also said that the "due date" function on MyUTH was basically dysfunctional and to ignore it. Wish they'd put some sort of note to this effect on the homepage to keep everyone's worries at bay.

As for deadlines for the stuff on the pre-enrollment checklist (drug test, cpr...) I don't think their is an official one - you just can't register for classes until they're all done. I think I heard somewhere that registration for us will open April 15 (...or maybe that was a different school), so best have everything done a week before then.

As Kittibitties stated, the date of March 22 or 23 whatever was generated by the computer is generic and you should ignore that. I emailed her and asked the same question, her response was ignore those dates and make sure you have everything done before orientation. I say the sooner you get them done the better because I'm not sure when registration opens you can not register until you have completed those items on your to-do list.

If you are wondering where the to-do list is and the instructions, there was an attachment to your acceptance email as well. I'd print that off and follow it to the T!

Nothing to worry about the drug test. Did mine yesterday and all you do is pee in a cup. The link to set up your appointment for all of that is on the attached word document in your acceptance email.

Looking forward to seeing you all this summer. Could someone PLEASE post a link to the Facebook page? Search does not bring it up - I think whoever is the owner has set it to private.

Does anyone have info on scrubs requirements? IE only a certain color?

I posted on the Facebook page, asking Lana if she had any ideas how to make the group findable. I'll keep up with that. I think there are only 16 of us on that group so far. Need more warm bodies! LOL
