If i was to apply here at UTPA i would have to go till next year since I only need there wellness class in order to satisfy the requirement. I did go through with an adviser which was a chairman of the committee and he said that anything over a 3.50 is considered competitive but as the years pass it becomes much more competitive than that.

Thanks :)! No i took most of all my prerequisites at South Texas College, and just transferred all my credits over to the university of my choice. But there is that class the you need to take at UTPA in order to enter the program which is the wellness class, only UTPA offers it. Texas A&M requires you to take two classes but those are part of your nursing degree before getting in. Pharmacology and health alterations, I will be taking those this summer if I do end up being chosen.

Oh okay, yeah I took the wellness course last semester so I am waiting for an admission decision as of the end of this semester

Hello, I just have a few questions about the nursing program at UTPA. Do they accept transfer nursing student from a different nursing school? Is it too late to apply for the Fall of 2014 when I have not taken the required nursing course, I think its Nursing Wellness or something like that. I am from Houston, TX but I am currently attending nursing school in a different state.

I believe they do accept transferred students. You need to be in good standing though with the current program you are in. You also need to take a wellness course which is a prerequisite in order to get into the program. Right now it is late to register for Fall semester applications are due in March if I am not mistaken. Wellness course is only offered in the Fall and Fpring terms.

@Future-RN2015, Thanks, may I ask you how long is the total BSN program offered at UTPA? Is it two years or less because I saw their required nursing courses and its not much compared to my nursing program.

Your welcome. It is two years, classes are only offered on Fall and Spring semesters.

I was thinking of applying to UTPA as well. I have my LVN but want to get my BSN there. How does the application process work. There website is very vague.
