Congrats on finishing this semester! I'm almost done...only three finals left and my last one on Tuesday! I haven't begun to study for the TEAS yet, but I'm going to as soon as finals are over. As far as I can tell, there aren't set calendar dates - you can pick any day as long as they have that spot open. And I'm assuming if you register with enough advance, they'll have whatever spot you wish to take open

    Have a good summer break!
How did your finals go though I bet they went great! I started to study in the math portion and I think it's been too long since I've taken any math courses. =/ It completely escaped my brain except the addition and such. Percents really stumped me. Hopefully by end of the month I'll re-jog my memory and it'll all come back to me. =) I was wondering if you've registered for the nursing program yet through pioneer portal? Is that just part of the application process?

    =)

Hey guys! Omgsh it's taken me so long to finally post on this site! I've been reading these since last year! Lol and I finally made an account. I applied to TWU for the fall but couldn't get in because I didn't have my microbiology and statistics finished before the application deadline on FEB. 1st. I just finished those classes and I am finished with my pre-reqs! I'm appliying for the Spring 2013 to the Houston campus. I've already taken my TEAS test and I'm going to take Patho in the fall at the Houston campus. I'm so excited! Are there any Houston people out there too? All I've seen on this forum is Denton or Dallas peeps. I'm glad we are all in this together!
Hi Malloryann!! Glad of you to join us. =) At some point I just lurked around these forums. haha. I love reading them because they're very informational in the long run. How was microbiology and stats for you? I really enjoyed micro but I can't say much for stats. I passed...that's all it matters. :spin: I am also done with my pre-reqs. Yay for us! BUT I'm retaking hist II over the summer to hopefully make that an A. Shouldn't be too difficult..I hope. hehe. Were you taking preqs at the Houston campus or at a local college? I finished mines at a local college...not heavy on the wallet. How was your TEAS test? Would you mind giving us any pointers and what study guide you used to study from? We'd greatly appreciate it. =)

We are going to make it!! RNs in the making!

I loved microbiology and I took stats online. I took them both at a local college around where I live and got A's in both. The TEAS test was harder than the HESI that I took for UTHSC. I got a 77 on the TEAS, which I think is pretty good so I'm not going to take it again. For the study guide, I just went to the ATI website and bought the book straight from there. I studied it alot and it was pretty helpful. The TEAS test was more detailed than the HESI and I ran out of time on the Math. The TEAS don't give you a calulator to use like the HESI did. Overall, I think the TEAS was a harder test but it was still ok. I didn't study super hard tho. I have a degree already from Texas A&M in education and just needed to take my sciences and take my TEAS and I'm finally done! Lol

Finals went super well, and I'm just SO excited I'm done with this semester! Finally, after two years, I have all my pre-reqs done for nursing school, wahoo!!
I haven't applied yet to the nursing program. I keep thinking I need to wait until I finish my TEAS, but I guess I don't have to...and yeah it's a part of the application process. I haven't started studying for the TEAS yet but I'm going to make it a goal of mine to open that book by the end of this week, and study hard!
When do you think you'll be taking it?

    Hi Mallory!!
Isn't it awesome to be done with the pre-reqs?? It's such a load lifted off. At least that's how I feel. Welcome to the board, glad you're here!

I feel the same way. It seems like it's been forever!! I've applied I think a week or two ago to the nursing program. I didn't even think about waiting. I must have done it on impulse and possibly just excited at the prospect of applying to nursing school. haha. It's been a long time coming. I wanted to pursue nursing since I was 18 but terrified of failure. Almost 10 years later....I'm done with my preqs and applying. =) It's a great yet worrying feeling of not getting accepted. I'm sure we all feel the same that's why it's great we are all going through this together. No one will understand us unlike those going down the same path. I'm hoping to taking it MAYBE mid summer but I may push it depending on where I am in studying and if I feel confident enough. We're only allowed one time to take the test?

    My stats as well:
    GPA: 3.9
First Attempt: All A's except Comp II (B...hate that class!) and a few are retakes (I'm scared those retakes are going to hurt my chances..arg)
*Note: Counselor told me to have a score as close to a 4.0 as possible and score high on the TEAS. I am going to try!!
TEAS: ? Unsure Currently studying. Will probably take it when I am ready. No earlier than July.

I don't think you'll have a problem getting in. Just score high on your TEAS. =) Especially first attempts on all your classes and aren't you already attending TWU? That's better than me. You will do great! I don't remember if I asked you if you're taking any classes over the summer?

Yeah I'm a student at TWU already, but I don't think that really makes too much of a difference. I'm just really worried about getting a high enough score on the TEAS! I've heard it's really hard. :-/
Nope, not taking classes over the summer, thank goodness! I'm taking 16 hours in the fall so I really just wanted to be able to sit back and chill before getting back into the studious routine, haha. I don't remember, are you taking summer classes?
You have really good stats as well!! I wouldn't be too nervous about getting in, if I were you. Here's to hoping for great TEAS grades!!

Have you taken all your classes at TWU and first attempts on sciences As? Wouldn't you get the "TWU bump?" I don't know how much that is but that could help a lot. You're lucky you're not taking any classes for the semester...I will be. I have signed up for 3 classes and for fall I'm just going to focus on pathophysiology. I was considering just retaking my history alone and the other classes for fall. Now that I'm thinking about it, it's not a bad idea. Yet all the classes are online. Hopefully they are not too bad. Decisions, decisions, decisions. :icon_roll Have you taken Woman's Studies or are you exempt from it? I think I'm suppose to have a completion of computer literacy too. Have you taken that? If so, how was it?

Hi, MaLloryann, I am applying to the Houston campus too. For the prerequisites, I will almost be done after the summer. I took TEAS in March. So I am almost ready for the application. Good to know you at this forum!

Unfortunately, I haven't taken all my classes at TWU. I'm a transfer student, and as of the end of this spring semester, I only have 29 credit hours at TWU. Since you need 32 to be eligible for the "bump", I don't qualify. I do, however, have all first attempt A's on the sciences and I've heard that they weigh those heavily, so I'm happy with that.
I actually haven't taken Woman's Studies or the Computer Literacy class yet either...those are two of the classes I'm taking in the fall, as well as my Comp II and Philosophy . I'm hoping the computer literacy class is ok; I'm kinda nervous about that one!
