TWU Spring 2013 Applicants!

U.S.A. Texas

Hello!:yeah:

I know it's pretty early to be starting this forum, but I just wanted to put my voice out there and see if there is anyone else out there hoping to join TWU's nursing program in the spring of 2013? What are you taking this semester (spring 2012), and when are you taking the TEAS-V entrance exam?

After this spring semester of taking microbiology, chemistry, developmental psychology, and statistics, I'll be ready to apply before the September 1st deadline! I'm hoping to take the entrance exam in the summer - probably June or July.

So yeah, I just wanted to see who else was out there!

I'm applying to TWU Dallas in Sept. Currently I am taking AP I and Micro. I will finish stats and AP II this summer. I will take TEAS V this summer. I'm nervous about finishing my courses right before the applications are due, since the website says apply 6 weeks before the 9/1 cutoff.

How long does it take for them to receive our TEAS scores? I'm not sure how to time that-wait to finish classes or take it before I finish classes.

Hi kmlnielsen! I wouldn't worry too much about having everything in 6 weeks before the deadline. I was worried about that too, but I talked to my advisor, and she told me that as long as everything is at the school before 9/1, then we're good.

My advisor also told me that as long as I took the TEAS at least a week before the 9/1 cut-off date, then my score would be there in time. So I'm guessing it takes a couple of days for them to receive the score?

Hope that helps!

Hi telma09! Thanks, and best of luck to you too! Let us know how the TEAS goes :D

Does anyone applying here have their CNA certification and possible could help me study for my skills? I am trying to get my CNA before applying for TWU and am coming from Washington where the skills requirements are a bit different than in Texas.

So i took the TEAS today and i got a 79... its not what i expected but i might take it again. Has anyone else taken it, and if so can you share your grade?

@telma09

You can only take the TEAS once per application period. So you can't take it again. This will be my 3rd time applying to their program, both other times NO LUCK. EVeryone just heard back of who made it last week and I received nothing. So here I am again.

Good luck to everyone.

i didnt know that, thanks for telling me!

@telma09. I have a friend that got accepted for Fall 2012 with a 68. Hope it helps.

Hey guys, just chiming in. I just got accepted for Fall 2012. As far as the teas goes, J (advisor) told me that the average that they accept is about a 74, but if you want to be competitive, get an 83 or better. I have a friend who got in with a 74. I got a 93 and you know, I didn't do anything crazy. I bought the book that's on ATI's website (I got it on Amazon), read through the short reviews and did the practice questions and one timed test (while having a few martini's). Only studied for a day and a half with a friend, we made a slumber party of it.

In short: Take your teas test seriously, but don't take it too seriously. Get that book and just do it. It's not hard.

GOOD LUCK! I have a few friends applying for Spring 2013, too, so I wish you all the best and I'm here for questions if you have them.

Thanks so much blt99 for the words of encouragement! What were your stats when you applied, if you don't mind me asking?

@Nela87 good luck this round of applying, I really hope it works out for you!
