TWU Spring 2013 Applicants!

U.S.A. Texas

Hello!:yeah:

I know it's pretty early to be starting this forum, but I just wanted to put my voice out there and see if there is anyone else out there hoping to join TWU's nursing program in the spring of 2013? What are you taking this semester (spring 2012), and when are you taking the TEAS-V entrance exam?

After this spring semester of taking microbiology, chemistry, developmental psychology, and statistics, I'll be ready to apply before the September 1st deadline! I'm hoping to take the entrance exam in the summer - probably June or July.

So yeah, I just wanted to see who else was out there!

I am taking Patho in fall at Denton campus as well. I am also hoping to find or form a study group. They say the average for the TEAS has been 72. Many people are being able to do way more (90+). I did 82. The advisor said we need to get 80+ to be on a competitive range.

Thnks, i think i am going to take patho at houston campus then. The teas v was quite challenging, but all thesame i made 84. i wish u goodluck also.

Hello, there! I am a prospective as well! I'm so glad to see so many dedicated students :)

I just took my TEAS V exam and was a little disappointed with my grade. I made an 86. I was really hoping for an A, as I only get the bumps for Micro and Stat - I made B's in A&P I and II. I will be applying with a 3.788.

Does anybody know if this makes me a good candidate? It's so hard to find any statistics on what kind of academic student gets in or not.

I am also taking patho in the fall at the Denton campus - scared but excited! Looking to hopefully find some others to study with because my amazing study group is the only thing that has kept me going through this nervewrecking process!

Hi emehta!

I am also taking patho in the fall at the Denton campus. I would definitely like to join you in a study group. We'll be able to benefit more from the class. So let's tackle this class all together! =) For the TEAS, you did the best you could and you're in the competitive range. I have yet to take my TEAS. I have a full load this summer so I'm hoping to take it in early August perhaps. I wish we were able to take the test more than once that way we can be better prepared the second time around. Are you taking any classes over the summer?

Hi heyjude91! Glad to have you in this thread!

An 86 is good!! A friend of mine is in there program right now and she made a 72 I believe. Her GPA was 3.6 or 7. I can't remember exactly. I haven't taken my TEAS yet and I only have one bumps for Stats. Retook my science classes to make them an A and I currently have a 3.9 but I'm taking a math class that I even question if an A is attainable. I am also taking women's studies and history II over the summer. I am TRYING to study when I can for the TEAS but now that classes are starting soon I don't know where I am going to find the time to study long enough. I am also taking patho in the fall and looking forward to meeting you and everyone else in this thread!

Hello All!

I've been following this thread for a few months now and finally feel comfortable enough to chime in. I attended transfer orientation at TWU Denton this past Friday and I also made the trip to Dallas to speak with Ashley Spinozzi, the upper division nursing advisor. She recommended taking pathophysiology at the Dallas campus this semester (as I have completed my prerequisites) and I registered for the class that day. My GPA is considerably lower than most I've seen on this thread but here are my stats:

3.5-ish GPA (taking chem and fine arts this summer so it remains to be seen...)

All first attempt A's in Stats, Micro, A&P I and II

92 TEAS V

I was told a 3.5 GPA is considered competitive for admission so all of you with higher GPA's can breathe a little :)

The first attempt preferences weigh heavily and apparently my TEAS score is one of the highest Ms. Spinozzi had seen in a while.

For those that are going to take the TEAS V soon, invest in the study guide from the ATI website. Study the whole thing cover to cover. Don't take anything for granted; even if you think you "know" something, study it anyway. The math section is taken without a calculator and you only have about exactly enough time to work out each problem. In fact, I ran out of time on the last 3 questions. C, C, C...haha! For the A&P section, it's not your standard general knowledge; you have to know some specifics so be prepared (the study guide IS helpful for this).

I wish 109 of you the best of luck! ;)

GREAT job on all your stats! I don't think you have anything to worry about! :D I have the ATI book and I'm finding it very useful...it's nice to hear that it prepared you SO well for the TEAS! I hope I'm able to get a score near yours ;)

Welcome to the thread!

The ATI study guide DOES help a lot. For me, it best prepared me for the reading part. At least I know what kind of questions will be asked in the test and save me some time to figure out the tactics. In fact, the reading part takes me the most time to finish. I only have 2 minutes left when I finish the last question. But still, don't worry too much about the test. All the questions are very general and basic. Wish all of you good luck on TEAS!
