TWU Spring 2010

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.

Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?

I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.

If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?

Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!

Hmm...that is interesting. I thought the NET was supposed to be easier than the HESI. Is there a separate study guide for the NET and HESI? I got the NET study guide since it's coming up faster for me.

Also, I just wanted to get an idea of who is applying for the Houston campus versus the Dallas campus. It seems that I'm all alone so far for Houston unless I was reading too quickly. :o

I just thought the HESI was easier since the reading on the NET was timed. I am for the Dallas campus. It's probably too early for a lot of peple to be on threads, so many more im sure will join. There is a separate study guide for the NET made my the people who write the NET. I only found in helpful for reviewing math and grammar. But not for anything else, especialy the reading. HESI makes their own guide by elsevier.

Has anyone used the Elsevier study guide for the Hesi? I bought it and it arrived on Friday, haven't taken a look at it yet since I have been busy taking Micro. It will probably wait until the week before I take the test at the rate I'm going. What a procrastinator I am. Oh well, I studied like that for the NET and made an 85.

I am applying to both, but Dallas is the one I would prefer (already live there!). For those of you that have applied before...is there a way on the application to say that one campus is preferred over another campus?

I was told by an advisor that you indicate on the application which campus you are applying for, and that you can apply to both. That way, if you do not get one of the Dallas spots, you will still be in line for a spot in Houston.

yes, you indicate on the application which is your preference if you want to go to both.

Are there two separate applications for either UT Houston or TWU? (application to the university and application for the nursing school) I thought there was, but it doesn't seem like it...

For TWU there is. Once you are admitted to TWU, you will set up a portal account. About 1 month before the deadline, probably around beginning of August, they will put up the application in the portal account. They might say they will put it up at end of July, but I don't think they will since they were late in December about putting up the app and it wasn't up till January.

Ah okay, sounds good! Thanks!

I still haven't gotten an acceptance letter from the university.... how long did that take for everyone?

OMG! The acceptance letter from the university took FOR.EV.ER to get. It took about 4 months, and I had to call everyday for about the last two weeks. Finally, I had to talk to the head honcho herself who has the final say of who admits students, and she handled the situation personally. Once I got to her lever, it took about a day to get the acceptance. They lost transcripts, and to this day they still don't have my transcripts updated.

Yeah, I called in yesterday to see what the hold up was and they said that my community college transcript was being held...I asked why it was....the person said that she didn't know (WHAT?). Then she said that she would release my transcript.... for who knows what reason...just like that. I think I will be calling at least twice or three times a week now... bleh

oh no lindsay! wow, i cannot believe that actually happened with your grade in micro! that's scary that they made a mistake like that! good thing you're going to get it fixed. if you don't mind me asking, who are you taking chemistry with? if you have the option of taking it with *********...take it!

i did not take a&p at twu (and of course worked my butt off for a freakin' b!), have any of you heard much about the professor that is teaching it this summer...i think his/her name is ***** or something?

currently i'm retaking life-span at twu, because of a b...

i am so scared and so excited at the same time about applying...

sorry it took so long to respond. i have been so busy planning for my baby’s 1st birthday party, it’s a little nuts. and yes, i finally got my grade fixed yesterday. she said it was a blackboard issue, some kind of miscalculation.

i am taking my classes this summer through dcccd. i am still debating between mountain view and cedar valley. life-span was fun for me. i hope you get that a!

after reading all the posts since i’ve been gone, i am a little frustrated. it’s irritating to know that one of the advisors at twu is telling one person one thing and the next person another. i was told a 3.9 is what should get you into dallas, and a 3.7 is competitive for houston. if it were easy enough, i would just relocate to houston, but my husband’s job is not transferable and all my family is in red oak (south of dallas).

has anyone of you started vaccinations? i have postponed going because well, i don’t like getting shots. lol i know, and i want to be a nurse. i don’t like getting them okay, i don’t think i would have a problem administering them. j

Thank you Lindsay! I got the A...:D

I finished with my vaccinations awhile back, you should try to get on them ASAP because the Hepatitis B takes about 6 months to complete!
