U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello, my name's Tien and I'm going to apply for TWU Houston Fall 14'. I noticed there's a topic for Dallas but none for Houston so I'm starting this one, hoping it will be a place for us hopeful applicants to come and share information.

BTW, my stats are: GPA 3.892, TEAS V 85.3%, 2/4 first attempt, and previous BA in Business. I'm scared b/c of my "1st attempt" since I see most that got in have 3 or 4/4 :nailbiting:...

So, welcome and good luck to us all!!! :):):)

I have applied to TWU for the Fall as well! I have a 3.5 Prereq GPA, 4.0 Science GPA, 82.7% on the TEAS and 4/4 first attempts. Good Luck to everyone, the waiting is the hardest!

I applied to TWU in Houston

My Stats:

3.65 GPA

77.6% on TEAS

3/4 First Attempts

GOOD LUCK!

Hey guys, I want to apply to TWU houston also. But I am international student, and I do not know if they require students to have social security number or not ( I know some universities require it). I emailed them about it but there's no reply. Does anyone have some info about this? Thanks so much!

Hey guys! I am also applying.

Stats:

GPA: 3.91

TEAS: 85.3%

1st Attempt: 4/4

Good luck everyone!

uyendo94: I am sorry, but I don't know the answer to your question. I would give the school a call as they have been very helpful to me over the phone.

1st attempt: 3/4

85.3% on tteas and only 1/4 first attempt :(

I'm so nervous about the first attempts...

how many of y'all are currently at the Denton campus and enrolled at twu?

I'm sorry, I'm not applying to TWU so I am confused by what you are all talking about "1/4 2/4...first attempts". What does that mean?

I'm not applying but I'm considering TWU so I'm just looking into their requirements.

Pretty much TWU takes the classes that comprise the science GPA (A&P 1 and 2, Micro, Statistics) and they look to see if you got an A on your first attempt in each of those classes. For students who attend a university where the labs and lectures are different classes then you have to get an A in both lecture AND lab to get the attempt preference point. For instance, you can't get an A in Micro lecture and a B in Micro lab and get the attempt preference point or vice versa. It needs to be an A in both. For most community colleges, however, since the classes are structured to where its 4 credit hours then the grade stands and they see if you got the attempt preference point from that grade.

So if someone were to say they got 3/4 attempts that means they got A's in three of the science classes and one B/C/D/whatever in another class for their first attempt regardless if they retook it and got an A. TWU weighs this aspect quite heavily.

Historically, I've seen many people get in with 4/4 or 3/4 attempts. Seldom anyone with 2/4 or even 1/4 attempts.

Good of to know! Thank you.

Hey guys I'm kind of confused about the attempt thing, I'm not sure what my attempt would be. I made A's in A&P 1 and 2, and stats. I got a B in micro. The first time I took AP2 I made a C.

GPA: 3.8

Teas: 81%

So, you would have 2/4 first attempts since your first attempt in AP2 was a C and your first attempt at micro was a B. They only look for A's on first attempt in order to count toward the first attempts.
