Texas Tech BSN 2 Fall 2013

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I am applying for Texas Tech's accelerated BSN program. So I wanted to start a thread for all Fall2013 hopefuls. I think I am going to apply to both Austin and the other location that is not El Paso(I can't think of the name)

Ok, so my interview is tomorrow. I went ahead and scheduled it for the first slot. I hope to see a few people that are potentially going to attend the program. I am totally freaking out but so excited at the same time. Totally bummed that there is no one else on here that is going to the Amarillo campus, but I guess I won't complain, better odds.

Is anyone moving to the site they applied to? I have been trying to calculate and come up with a budget to get a better idea of how much the entire program will cost. So I know they said ~$7026 for 20HR for Tuition and Fees, ~$1252- Books/Supplies per Semester.

So I calculated about ~$25,000 for Tuition/Fees/Books/Supplies and then ~$15,000 more for living expenses. Which including living on site.

I am finding it a little of challenge to find a place that will be suitable for me and does not cost outrageously in pet fees, since I want to bring one of my dogs with me to Amarillo.

I will try to post after my interview...Good Luck to everyone!

SilverLove, GOOD LUCK!!! :) Yeah, I wish more people were on here...Lol!

All done, it was at 11:00am, but seems like it ran a little over the 20 min.

I feel good, seems like only 5 people interviewed. So, good odds I hope.

There were 3 very nice ladies conducting interviews. I also met the coordinators.

Spent my day looking at apartments. All tired out.

Any out of the ordinary questions asked at the interview?

Nope pretty straight forward.

Let us know when you get in!

Thanks so much. I hope so!!

So I got some info when I went to my interview. I also got the email for the CBC- which needs to be done ASAP, I will have to get mine done first think Monday.

So this is the info:

It seems there is a mandatory all day site specific overview held at each individuals site.

Lubbock 8/9, Abilene 8/16, Odessa 8/15 and Amarillo 8/13.

They are also changing how tests are done. They are now using a proctoring service company that will proctor via a webcam (that is needed--if you don't have one) They will proctor 3 to 5 exams per semester at $17-25 per test.

OHH before I forget... and its on this sheet also.

"Clinical assignments will very based on availability and may include, day shifts, night shifts, weekend, etc. There is no guarantee of a day shift."

One of my interview questions was if I was ok with NIGHT shift, I don't have a problem with it since I worked some nights as a CNA. So I told them that.

It also reiterates the cost of the program $22,000 for fees and in state tuition. Anyone out there getting a personal loan? I need to look into that.

Good luck to everyone on their upcoming interviews.

Thank you for the info! I am interviewing on Monday for Odessa. I am out of state residency (i think) so it is going to be twice that for me!! I def need some info on loans. Planning to work tht all out if after I hear a yes or no...So the 15th will be a mandatory orientation? At the hospital? Any other info I should know before the interview? Thanks!!

Where are you from scbrown85, that you would be considered out of state?

Yes in regards to the mandatory orientation. I was thinking all along that school started Aug. 31st. Turns out if accepted I need to be in Amarillo on the Aug. 13th for that, then school starts the 20th, If I remember correctly.
