TCU Fall 2014 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I know TCU is really expensive however, someone is applying ... right? I am going to apply just to see what happens. I am applying as a transfer student, 3.76 overall GPA... working on increasing my science GPA from 3.50. There is information on the TCU site, but not a lot. Can anyone tell me what their selection process or trend for acceptance GPA wise is? How is the program for those who were accepted? What were the stats for those who were wait-listed in the past? What are your stats for those who are applying?

This post is for hopefuls and current students with information to share.

Any applicant's....???

I did not apply to TCU nursing school, but I know a thing or two about the school in general as I graduated from there a long time ago and my son goes there, and my daughter almost went there with plans on going into the nursing program. They give top priority to existing students and fill most of their spots with them. Whatever is left goes to transfer applicants. The tuition is VERY expensive and they have just announced yet another increase. Including room and board, you can expect to spend 50K per year there.

First, thank you for responding. Second, WHAT??!! Going up on tuition again? I know they're known giving scholarships but $25k a semester... with that amount, books should be included! Wow, the campus is beautiful, but the cost is insane. It sounds as if my chances are very slim considering my classification as transfer student. Thank you for the heads up on the price. I am almost half way through the CAS application process and feel like quitting. OMG:no:

Hi everyone!!! I'm applying for Fall 2014 I was not going to complete my application but I decided WHY NOT! :) You never know until you try. I'm done with all the nursing pre-reqs besides the religion core and transfer electives that must be taken at TCU. My Stats are below:

82.8 overall on my Hesi :nailbiting:

86-Reading

90-Math

78-Vocabulary

80-Grammar

80-Anatomy/Physiology

3.89-Prerequisites GPA

3.05-Overall GPA (including EVERY class taken)

I'm not for sure where I stand in regards to my HESI scores but I'm Praying my math and reading scores makes up for everything. I'm not familiar with the application process/selection to the program. If anyone know any information on acceptable hesi scores or anything please comment!!

I know there have to be more lurkers and researchers out there like myself :)

I was considering applying also because I have almost every pre req done and they take into consideration pre req's in process. I even started the CAS application process but then looked at the tuition and got kinda scared. Its A-LOT!! I know its a top school and a BSN but Im just questioning myself. I work at a top hospital with 80% nurses who have only a associates; I just don't know if a BSN is what I need. Id be happy with life just having my RN.

Its tough, guys!

Wow!

I'm also applying to Midwestern BSN and Grayson College which is an ADN program. I was skeptical of applying to an ADN program after hearing that it might be hard finding a hospital entry job with just my ADN if I took that route. I thought hospitals were starting to only hire people with their BSN over ADN. The price is VERY high but hospitals have loan forgiveness programs. Does the hospital you work out help pay or reimburse tuition for nursing? Are you going to finish your app and have you taken the hesi?

The hospital i work at pays about 2500 a year, other hospitals pay more. I have been hearing about the magnet status thing for over 2 years now so its hard to tell...

I have taken my hesi and got a 89 overall.

What is magnet status? Do you know what are the hesi requirements for tcu?

People are responding... YAY. I heard that they look at math and reading but when it comes to selection, it is all over the place and can be anything. I have also heard that they look at volunteer service as well. I have also seen other postings where low GPAs got in. I am a little afraid of the price tag as well but given that they have a lot of scholarships, if they offer me a spot...I'd take it. The time in for ADN and BSN for those who are core complete is about the same...give or take a semester.

Magnet status is a fancy award hospitals receive for nursing excellence, and it strives for 80% of the nursing staff to have BSN's. Its a way for hospitals to show how great they are.

I am not sure about the hesi score requirement for TCU

Do you guys know what kind of scholarships they offer and how to apply?
