TCU Accelerated BSN 2014

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello to all! I am new to this site and was seeing if anyone has been accepted into the program for 2013 to give me pointers or if I can get aquainted with new applicants in the same boat as I..........I would apprecaite it!!!!!!!!!!!:)

I'm applying for the TCU ABSN program as well. Pretty nervous about getting in, because it's my first choice and I've heard its super competitive. Have you taken your HESI test and finished all the prereqs? This year they are using the NursingCAS program for applicants. Have you had any issues using it?

Hello! My name is Amy! I haven't taken the HESI yet...I've been studying! I have finished all my prereqs..and I have not had any trouble with the NursingCAS system...its just very time consuming.

Hi Amy -- I'm Stacey. When are you taking the test? I am taking it the first week or so of January. Wanted to wait until I was between semesters. Trying to get the rest of my prereqs done. Worried about my statistics grade. I may end up with a C... unless a miracle happens... :-/ *facepalm*

Hi all. Im Aaron (a female)... I have just put all my stuff into the CAS website and sent out for all my transcripts. I still have 3 pre-reqs to take. A&P2, religion, and nutrition. I was told as long as I am done by May. Which should be the case! I still need to take the HESI which I plan to do soon. I am concerned about the cost, but I figure.... hey... whats another 70K lol geez

Hello, i am in the same boat as you guys! I am a recent grad with a BS. I'm enrolled in a looooot of pre reqs for spring 14 so i can have them all completed by May 2014 if i get in.

The adviser told me that it is encouraged that students take A&P at a 4 year university rather than a community college but I would have taken both of them at a community college :/

Have y'all taken most of yalls prereqs at a community college or a 4 year university?

Hi there. Most of mine are from CC .... Haven't heard that it's an issue. But whatever lol. It is what it is. Going to take HESI on the 25th of January at TCU. Been studying. Apparently suck at grammar lol. Sooooo studying a bunch. I'm hoping for this May but not sure if it will happen. If not I wait a year :)

Not sure where everyone is at so Ill post mine:

Right now in my science pre-reqs: (ap1, ap2, micro, and stats) I have a 3.75 (I am assuming I make an A in ap2 this semester haha)

My undergrad GPA is also a 3.75

HESI- unknown yet.

Not sure where I stand in the mix of things... but there it is.

Just got my grades for this semester! All A's and a B in statistics!! That is such a load off! Next semester is A&P2 and MicroB. Taking the HESI January 10 @ TCU. Taking the prereqs at TCC, which is where the advisor at TCU told me to take them... so I think its fine. I have done some research and it looks like they have had so many applicants in the past that only about 30% were admitted. : / Now that classes are out I plan on studying like crazy for the HESI test and writing my personal statement for the nursingcas application. Seems like March is soooo far away....

That's great. I'm doing ap2 this spring as well..along with a few other non science classes. I am just not going to worry about it as far as getting in. I just accept the fact that it may not be this year. If not...it will stink but nothing I can do. I will just continue working at the hospital and paying off my first student loan! Any idea what being a transfer student is an issue? Is it because they have their own current student being considered first?

Congrats on your successful semester! How did you get the info that only around 30% get in? Does anybody know the stats on HESI scores for TCU accelerated acceptance?

TCU told me this: "Regarding the HESI, we are primarily focusing on the scores you receive in math and reading.

You are correct in that TCU is only able to accept a limited number of transfer students for our clinical program each fall. The number depends on how many continuing students (students that started at TCU as freshmen are considered continuing as they are automatically guaranteed placement into our clinical program) we have. On average we are able to accept anywhere between 20-40 transfer students each year.
