Tarrant County Fall 2011 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello,

I'm applying to the fall nursing program in January. I'm super excited but I still have some unanswered questions. I tried calling the Nursing Dept at the South Campus and left a message but have not heard a response.

I'm trying to find out what teas version they are testing with in the spring for fall entry. I have read tons of threads from TCC for the past few semesters and it is nice to start a new one for nursing hopefuls like me.

I'm taking Micro in the fall and getting a math class knocked out for BSN. Anyway, hope to get some responses.

The Version for the TEAS will be TEAS V, it was the version i took for Fall 2010. It's a little different than the older version. The science part was longer and the english was shorter. For the science, no rocks question, there a lot earth science question... If you want to call TCC Nursing Department, call B-the secretary of Nursing Department. She's very nice and informative.

Hey guys I am so excited for all of you that will soon by submitting your apps for Fall 2011. I can't wait to be in your shoes. I am more of a Fall 2012 hopeful. I am in my first semester of pre-reqs and my goal is to finish up all my basics in the fall, and submit my app next Jan. Can i get some advice regarding schedule? I am trying to plan so far ahead, which is kind of hard to do since they dont post the schedule far in advance. I have already registered for my Spring semester classes. Here is my plan that I am praying will work out, Summer 1- API & Math 0350, Summer 2-APII & Psyc 2314 Life span, Fall- Chem, Micro, and hopefully Med Term for bonus points. Any thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks and good luck to all of you!!

Good for you. Sounds like you manage your time great and you are dedicated!

Good luck with those Sciences classes and enjoy the pre-reqs ride. It was fun but I can't wait to apply in January. So, you will be applying in the fall 2011 for the Spring of 2012 right?

Yes I will apply in Fall for Spring 2012. I notice a lot of people talking to the counselors or someone at the S campus. Is there an interview process or is this just feedback to ensure the steps are followed properly? What all have you completed?

KLP- I'm also planning on taking a&p this summer. Hoping to apply to the program in Fall 2011 for the Spring. Good Luck! It seems far away but every little step is closer to our goal!:)

No reason really, I'll be applying soon and just had a few questions since I was already at the South campus taking care of something else. I would recommend you all to stay on top of the FAQ's section in the nursing section of the school's website. The information tends to change around the end of the spring, class requirement and such can change anytime. Good luck with your pre-reqs, study hard and stay focused!

Okay fall 11 applicants, where are you all hiding? I'm sure everyone is excited and overwhelmed at the same time now that our turn is finally here. Let's keep in touch through out application period. It helps time pass by quicker when we get feedback, post questions, and answers on here. Good luck to all. My test date for the Teas is Feb, 19.

Hello everyone! I am very excited about the application process, although I am finding it a little stressful. I am scheduled to take the TEAS test on Feb, 9.

Hi Everyone!

I am new to this site and will be applying for the Fall as well. I am scheduled to take my TEAS on the 19th of Feb. I am so excited/nervous that our turn has finally come. Any ideas on how to study for the TEAS? I was at the South Campus yesterday and I was told that there will be no Information Presentations this time around, but we are encouraged to view the online session. I could not find the link....does anyone know the link to the online session? Thanks.

Welcome to the site,

here is the link, just copy and paste.

http://www.tccd.edu/Documents/Disciplines/Nursing/Nursing%20Information%20Presentation(0).pdf

If this link above doesn't work, go to the tcc website and click on program offerings, next click on apply for nursing and on # 4 you can review the pdf power point presentation there. I'm also taking the Teas on Feb 19. I'll be a nervous wreck that day. I have been studying one and half to two and half hours everyday. Basically, I'm just dissecting the teas study guide. The science section is the one that I'm most concerned about. I'm also doing some practice problems for the math section outside of the guide to get more proficient with the time alloted for the actual test. Good luck and keep in touch.

Thanks a lot Loly82.

I just looked at the site and it cleared some of the questions I had. I am equally putting in almost the same time as you are in studying for the TEAS. So far, I have basically gone through the book cover to cover, but I am still not very comfortable with the Science portion. This will be my second time taking the TEAS. The first time I took it was in September 2010 and I did terribly (had a proficient score). I was hoping to apply for Spring, but I realized that I did not have Math 0350 and so decided to get that out of the way together with College Math before applying. Thank you so much for the information. I 'll try and do the same when I am working on my math too.

Hey guys!

I can't believe the application period is finally here! So exciting! :) I saw that some of you are taking your TEAS tests on the same day as me...February 9th, 1:00PM. I started studying a few weeks ago, so I'm hoping I will do okay. Has anyone confirmed that they are still using the 3/4 version of the test?

I noticed many of you talking about vaccinations as well. I have all of my shots up-to-date except for my Tetorifice, so I will be getting that along with my TB skin test done at the Public Health office. However, I have one concern. I am deathly allergic to egg products and flu vaccines have them, so I have NEVER gotten one. On the website it said you can sign a waiver, but where exactly is it? Do you have to get it from the nursing school?

Also, as for physician physicals and stuff, do you get those after you get accepted?

Good luck to you guys! I'm sure you will all do great!

Actually, I think... that they are using version 5. At the book store in the south campus, version V is what they have available for sale. I would call them and double check though. Another student last semester, said that she had version 5 of the test. You got me worried now. :uhoh21: I'm almost done studying the version V book. :yeah:

I would call the nursing department and verify on the waiver for the flu vaccine. I'm sure you will only fill that out once you are accepted along with the physical, background check and drug test. Also, don't forget to get the CPR class out of the way, it will be one less thing to worry about. The CPR class has to be for health professionals.

Good luck and let me know what you find out on the version of the test.
