So I think we are well into the application period so, surely it is time to start up this board. I can not wait until we hear back in May. Trying to keep very busy while waiting. Good luck to everyone applying!! Hopefully we... Read More

It is different every semester and really depends who you are going up against. You should definitely still apply and if worse comes to worse and you don't get in then you can always reapply for the fall. I am currently in my first semester of nursing school and I was terrified I wouldn't get in. My back up plan if I ended up not getting accepted was to reapply, take the hesi again and then take a 2 or 3 month course to get my CNA license. Working as a CNA really puts you ahead and you learn a lot of the same stuff you will be learning in skills in nursing school. That way, by the time you get in you will already know the basics =) best of luck to you!

KLP~ If this is your dream then don't give up!! You've already made it this far so you might as well apply and just see what happens. You never know what could happen! Yes the program is competitive, but not everyone made ALL A's... Even if you didn't get one of the acceptence letters, you might get put on the alternate list. Some people in our class were being notified that they had been accepted 2 weeks before school started! A lot of people that apply and get accepted, also apply to other schools and will choose to go somewhere else (like a university). So spots will open up. I applied somewhere else before I applied to TCC. I had a C in A&P 1, then a B in A&P 2, and an A in micro, and a horrible TEAS test score (they didn't accept the HESI). I got rejected so I decided that I would take A&P 1 over and I made an A. At that point I was able to apply to TCC (bc I also took chemistry which I needed anyway to apply, and made an A) and then I got accepted. Also I'm not 100% sure but I think I remember a couple of people who were accepted (not wait listed) with scores just like yours. So don't get discouraged!

Hi KLP151! I am in the same boat. I have 3.7 GPA but only made a 88% on my HESI. I turned in my application a couple days ago and am feeling quite discouraged. I really thought I did good and then reading all these forums has me convinced I will not get accepted .

Hello to everyone. I hope your first semester went well!

I know I'm jumping the gun a bit here because I haven't even applied yet but I'm a researcher by nature so I need a little extra time.

    * What brand of scrub pants did you buy for clinicals? It seems like the teal color for the TCC program is hard to find so brands that have the correct color will help me narrow my search.
    * What length are the lab coats supposed to be?
    * What kind of shoes did you get & were they comfortable enough for clinicals?

Thank you in advance for your input!

Kristi... I buy work scrubs through uniform advantage. They carry all sorts of brands but here is what I found. For anyone not the size of a perfect size then unisex works best. I am not able to buy sets cause my top area is larger than my bottom. Shoes... I bought Saucovny running shoes and that are gReat!!!! After a long 12 hour that had me running I still ok

I bought my scrub pants from a store in grapevine mills and they are Barco brand. You can also get a patch from tcc bookstore and use that as your guide for the right color. TNSA sells used uniforms on campus. Tops are $3 and pants are $5. plus the tops already come with patches!!! For lab coat look for nurses coat, they will have the cuffs at the end of the sleeves. My shoes were Sketchers flex fit, and the best thing about them is they dont have laces, which can get pretty nasty. Plus they are a leather like material so they just wipe clean.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of drug test tcc administers. I went to
A Halloween costume rave last weekend and I think someone drugged me, well I'm pretty sure that
Guy did. I'm worried now that going to that rave and putting myself
In that situation is going to ruin my life.
