Does the school that you are going to offer it? Most major universities have a student health insurance policy. You can ask at the Student Affairs office. I currently attend the University of Texas and they offer a student policy through United Healthcare that is very reasonable. It has a $300 deductible, and covers doctor visits etc. I pay around $400 per semester and that's with an additional $500,000 major medical policy added onto it.
I got mine through the school as well.. I go to LoneStar college in Houston. I paid about $400 for the whole year. Keep in mind though that it is USELESS. I can't get anyone to tell me what it covers, or get a provider list. It is basically paying the money for a card that says you have insurance and MAY cover major medical...but of course...I can't get anyone on the phone to answer any of my questions. Even so..it was cheaper than paying about $100 a month for it through my husbands work.
