Starting pay rates for RNs in the Dallas area?

New grad RNs in the Dallas/Fort Worth area generally start out between $22 and $25 hourly at the major hospitals. The starting pay rates have pretty much remained flat during the past four years due to the sluggish economic situation combined with the masses of new grads in the DFW area.

this confirms my decision to leave teaching for nursing. i've been teaching for 11 years and don't make that...and never would as a teacher.

Nurses might earn a little more money than teachers, but teachers tend to have superior benefits and retirement packages. The salary is not the only consideration.

I earned a handsome amount last year but I have no employer-sponsored benefits such as health insurance or retirement. Many teachers retire with fully funded pensions and health insurance. On the other hand, many nurses must work until the day they croak.
