I have been accepted into the Seton RN Residency (Versant) Program set to start on February 3, 2014 (February 2014 cohort). I am here to answer any questions, provide advice, and share my experience as a new graduate entering the workforce.

I was able to get 3 interviews on different units for the Feb. 2014 cohort. Thousands of applications were submitted to the program, hundreds to each unit that I interview on, 10-15 applicants were selected to interview and 4-7 positions were open on each unit. Knowing that most people don't even have the opportunity to interview on one unit, I was very thankful to have the opportunity to interview on 3.

I was contacted about 2 weeks after my last interview by the nursing manager offering me the position. HR called me a week later to officially offer me the position and I formally accepted the position (that was today). HR told me that they would be sending me an email containing my official job offer letter, and a packet of forms that I need to fill out and fax to them as soon as possible. I was also told I would be contacted in the next few days to schedule my medical screening for next week.

Please feel free to ask any questions and I will continue to update as I go through the process.

Congrats! I am graduating in May and am getting ready to apply for the June cohort on Feb 3. Did you graduate with an ADN or BSN? I'm going to be an ADN graduate but have already applied to TTU's RN-BSN program. I know about 5 people from my school (other ADNs) who got jobs as well, but just curious.

Any tips for the open house? I understand it's a mad house and I'm pretty shy, so any tips would be great :)

Congratulations! I am graduating in May with my BSN from Texas State, and I would love to hear more about what you think set you apart from the rest of the applicants. Good luck!

Hi all! I also was hired to the Feb 14 cohort - feeling very fortunate.

In regards to tips for getting in, I had an HR rep tell me that most of the people they hire, they meet at the open house, so definitely attend if you can. Print a bunch of resumes - have your school career center review it if you can. Dress professionally, be confident, and put in as much face time as you can with each hiring manager. I only wanted to work at Dell, so I waited in line for those managers again and again until I got to talk to all of them. I handed each a resume and sold myself hard, relating experiences I had in school clinicals to their unit. If it was a unit I wasn't familiar with, I asked them a lot of questions. They want to know that you're friendly, confident, and eager to learn.

Good luck!

Thanks laurenita! Do you by chance know how important the career and goals statement is to the application process? I have mine all finished up but I felt like the questions were a little strange and hard to answer...

I was accepted to the June 23rd cohort in the NICU at SMCA. Any tips of advice?

Congrats to both of you for being accepted. I will be applying for the February 2015 cohort. Were there any nurse managers from shoal creek? That's the department where I would like to be hired.

Congrats to all who have been accepted. I'm looking to apply for the February 2015 cohort and am relocating from Connecticut. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the October open house, does anyone know if they additional open houses throughout the fall/winter?

I applied for February 2015 too. I haven't heard anything yet
