Dallas hospitals attract plenty of nurses- they just can't keep them.
Concierge services and so on are just gimmicks- if you treat nurses fairly, pay them well and provide the kind of environment where nurses can concentrate on giving their best care- you will have enough nurses and won't need to resort to gimmicks.loricatus likes this. - Mar 7, '09 by loricatusQuote from txspadequeen921once you get into med-surg you may never be given a chance to change. if that is the specialty you really like, then go for it remembering that you may have to do 10 years of it (unless you luck out). if you really want icu or or, then don't settle for med-surg. with your prior experience, you would be in better shape to land one of those internships over the average gn.well i am looking at working in the big city so i am all ears about this thread... as a new almost gn i really feel like a ( icu ,or) intern ship is the best thing but i can hang in med-surg for a while if the price is right....

They have kept me for a long time, I think we are well treated. Well compensated. Well liked. I havent seen a concierge service, But I have a live in housekeeper who does all that for me, plus cleans the windows also.Last edit by Iam46yearsold on Mar 9, '09 : Reason: spelling - Mar 9, '09 by Pecked2DthByChickensI saw that newscast too and just had to laugh. The vast majority of hospitals are not hiring much at all and some are shutting down altogether. The majority of the students in my class, including myself, are all having problems finding GN jobs in May due to hiring freezes and the ill economy. Just keeping my fingers crossed.
