Question to Transfer Students

U.S.A. Texas

I was wondering if anyone has had success transferring between nursing schools. I plan on going to UTHSCSA if I get in, but if I'm not happy with the program, transferring to UTMB cause its closer to Houston. I wanted to know if this is possible cause the counselor I talked to said your not likely to be accepted as a transfer student, only in rare circumstances. Anyone have any input about this?

No matter how much you dislike your nursing program, you should suck it up, toughen it out, and graduate from the school with your degree. Nursing school spots are at an ultimate premium, so schools tend to not have time to play the 'transfer game' with pupils who are unhappy with the progression of things.

Transferring is rarely an option. There would have to be an open spot - which as Commuter said, there rarely is. Each school has its own curriculum sequence which may not match how your original school does things Some schools are not accredited with the same agencies. Schools also do not like risking having people fail NCLEX because they had some of their educations elsewhere - as this looks bad on their stats with BON and their ability to stay open. Have NEVER heard of someone transferring in the middle of their degree - ASN or BSN.
