Prairie View A&M students

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi all,

Is there anyone here starting at Prairie View this Spring or currently attending? I got my acceptance letter about 2 weeks ago....I am so excited...and nervous! Can any PV students give advice on what to expect?

Thanks :)

I am applying to PV for spring 2012. I notice that PV changed their deadline from September 1 to October 1. (I wonder why???) I turn in my transcripts last week. After my transcript was reviewed I was given a pre-nursing database with the following information:

-63 hours completed

-University GPA 3.18 (non-science course)

-Support Area GPA 3.53 (science course)

-Cumulative Department GPA 3.35

-HESI scores: Math 84, Reading 89, A&P 92, Grammer 92, and Critical Thinking 830.

Now, I have to wait patiently for a letter. I heard it takes up to 3-4 months.

If anybody else is applying for PV spring 2012 I would be more than glad to hear from you, and if you want, share your info with us.

(I am also applying at UT-Houston but I feel that my GPA is not high enough for their program.:o)

Let me know what you think!

I turned in my paperwork in January n had my acceptance letter by march 15th. So spring applicant should get it by October 15th. They don't go by GPA bur first come basis.

mjor bummer guys, i wont be going to pv at least i dont think so unless they change their asinine rule. i got alot of credit with AP from high school and CLEP but while they gave me credit for it they gave me a ) for each on the GPA scale which drug my GPA from a 3.4 tp a 2.3, super ****** off i have never seen a school do that

i mean a 0

I scored bad on the TEAS too but it depends on the school you're applying to for how long you have to retest. But for PV and the HESI you have to wait 30 days before you retest for them. And they don't require the Chemistry, Biology or Vocabulary sections.

Thank you , :crying2:i guess i will wait and cross fingers that this time i do well, what materials did u use to be ready for those tests. one school required at 57 n i got in the high 60's but am still not sure that i even stand a chance since most people will get higher than that, and do u know if PV rounds up the score?

For the TEAS I used the study guide for the test, the Kaplan entrance exam study guide, and Mcgraw study guide....all that didn't do me any good. For the HESI, I used the evolve study guide for the math, reading, grammar, and vocabulary. For the a&p section, I studied the Kaplan study guide and my old a&p notes. The best study guide to me was the kaplan one. I got it at barnes and nobles for around $20. Well worth it! And I don't know if PV rounds their scores.

Hey does anyone know how long it's going to take for the HESI score to get sent to the school? I'm planning to retake mine on Sept 26. The deadline is Oct 1. Some people told me it takes 3 hours. Some say 3 days =,=

I took mines on the 16th of august n emailed n they said they didn't receive them yet. I haven't called back or emailed again. So I don't know how long it takes.

Does anyone knows how much does the HESI at PV cost?

I didn't take it at PV but at a prometric site and it cost me $90.
