I am about to graduate in May. I am planning on working somewhere in Dallas. Could anyone tell me where to start?

I am moving to Arlington but I graduate in May 2010. This site is making me nervous. I went to school thinking when I get out I will virtually be handed a job. Now I find out that there are NO jobs. I am graduating with a BSN and while I have nothing against nusing homes that is not where I planned on starting my career. If I start in a nursing home what are the chances of me being hired in an ER or ICU or Med/Surg unit later?

Parkland has wonderful residencies, and they pay pretty well. Its hard work but you learn ALOT! Try it.

I am also moving to dallas from alabama and need help finding a job as an RN. I applied to a few hospitals but don't want to limit my search to just these. Any helpful options on where I can apply to such as non-hospital jobs? Thank you

baylor health system and methodist health system currently have some internship positions posted. parkland only has 1 position in the sicu (not my interest). i have applied for the med-surg position at baylor, but am still looking. my interest is really with methodist, i have heard many good things about them, and they are also a teaching facility!

    best of luck,

I as well have been applying to several hospitals in the Dallas area, nothing! I've been applying for months. I did speak to a nurse recruiter @ Parkland and he informed me that there is ONE position in the Emergency Area for a new graduate. Hundreds have applied and they are only choosing one candidate!

I graduated in May and I'm still looking for a job! What is going on? Isn't there a nursing shortage? I am so bummed that I've graduate and passed my boards and am without a job. I've applied to so many places I've lost track. Anyone with some suggestions for the DFW or surrounding area opportunities? thanks!

    Hi Finally_RN,

Medical City Dallas has internship positions posted to start in Oct 2010. North Hills Hospital has a few PCU and ER Internships posted. Parkland has some nurse resident and RN I positions for new nurses. I know because I have applied at these facilities and am still waiting to here from them. I followed up with Parkland last week only to be told they are still sorting through applications. I just applied at Med City Dallas on Monday, so I will call and follow up on Friday. I have also looked at Methodist, but they don't have anything posted. I have 2 part-time jobs, but I need an internship; have been out of school for 4 yrs. I hope you find some of the positions posted.

Best of luck to you, I am in the same boat you are in, looking for a full-time RN job.

    Hi,
I am a Graduate Nurse with a BSN (as of last Saturday) and I just moved from Kansas City to North Dallas. When I looked online before moving, I saw many nursing jobs, so I thought I would have no problem finding one. I was not expecting all of the hospitals to have Internships that don't start until January- we don't have those in KC. So now my problem is that I can't find somewhere to work until January, and that is too long to wait. The only hospital I have found that doesn't have Internships is the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital, and I submitted my application and called them last week. Does anyone know of any other hospitals that I could possibly get hired at without waiting until January? I'd appreciate any suggestions! I'd love to work in the ER, but I am also happy with any other hospital area.

    Thanks,
    Katie

Hey, if you would consider moving to another part of Texas, University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas is hiring right now for a new graduate nurse. From past experience, this hospital hires alot of new nurses. I just had to turn down two interviews for a graduate nurse at this hospital because I had already found a job. Good luck.

All of the HCA hospitals in the Dallas-Fort Worth area who are advertising their new grad internships (Medical City, North Hills, Medical Center of Lewisville, etc.) have an additional demand: a BSN degree is required. This does not fare too well for those of us with associate degrees.

I see a lot of rN resident position listed on Parkland's website. Anyone applied and got a call back? or interview? how hard what the hiring process at parkland?

I've applied for almost every RN I and Nurse Resident job openings at Parkland and havent heard anything back! I called the Recruiter yesterday, and told them I have applied online but I was checking to see if there was anything else I can do, and the recruiter was very short with me and told me if I had already applied online there was nothing else I can do, but wait for a recruiter to contact me.

I applied for other RN I positions 1 and half months ago, and havent heard anything from that time either!

Ive moved to Dallas 2 months ago, and have applied to almost every hospiital in Dallas, and I've had 1 interview so far.
