NCTC ADN Fall 2012

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Anyone applying for the Fall 2012 semester at North Central Texas College for the ADN program? I went up to Gainesville yesterday and applied! I'm pretty excited because I didn't realize until mid-March that I would qualify prerequisite-wise to apply for any programs for Fall, so it was a pleasant surprise. :)

Me too!! I talked to Estelle today and she said letters go out at the end of this week.

Yay! I was tempted to call and ask, but I had hoped someone had already done so. :)

While I'm thankful that the application period for NCTC is much later than other schools (otherwise I would have missed the deadline), our official acceptance is really cutting it close to the time school starts! I've gotten my TB test done and a few school supplies, but that's all I want to do at the moment because I'm not sure what we will need.

Hey Zweiells!! I got my letter today!! We have a lot of preparing to do!! Hope to meet you soon. Also, it looks like we will only be attending classes Mon Wed, which is great for me since I live an hour away. ;-)

No letter for me today and I live so close! The mail service in Denton has been strange as long as I've lived here. Good to know classes may be only two days a week! When is orientation? I can at least block that day off my calendar! :)

Orientation is August 21. And I apologize, Classes are Mon-Wed. I hope you get your letter soon, because we have so much to do, in less than a month!!!

Got my letter packet today! I had the mailbox staked out all morning. :)

It looks like I will have classes Monday (8-12 and 1-5) and Tuesday (8-9 and 1-4) and then clinical on Thursday. I wish we had been given information on scrubs and supplies ahead of time. I've ordered my kit and scheduled my fingerprints and am about to do the background check stuff. I should be able to get my physical done later this week and any titers I need. Then I'll just be twiddling my thumbs waiting for orientation!

Congrats to everyone who was accepted for the fall class! I am applying for spring 2013. I am very anxious for September 15 to get here so I can go apply!

So I may be jumping the gun here, but I was wondering if they have told you what color scrubs and shoes to buy? Or do you have to buy directly from them? I am about to be buying shoes for my volunteer ER job and would like to get a pair I could wear for clinicals too if I am accepted! Money is kinda tight so it would be nice to not have to buy multiple pair of shoes!

Thanks! :)

Hi. Good luck on entrance into the program. I'm not sure about the shoes. But for the first semester students we will wear white on clinical days and red scrubs the other days. I talked to someone in the nursing office and they said to wait till orientation to buy scrubs, because its a particular style and color that they want us to wear. I would just wait, so you don't waste your money. Or you could call the nursing office, they are VERY VERY. HELPFUL. I hope this helped you and Good luck again ;-)

Ugh, white scrubs will be the worst! Time to go buy some flesh colored underthings... Shoes will most likely have to be all white with nonabsorbent material (leather etc) on the outside, maybe slip resistant. This is what most schools require, but not sure about NCTC. I'm waiting until Tuesday before I buy any uniform stuff. I've only bought one book, the fundamentals one, so I will be able to read the first assignments this coming week.

I also hate white scrubs! Haha, guess that's just part of it... I'm guessing you're probably right about white shoes, can't go wrong with those.

Good luck with classes!

We learned today that our shoes have to be all white (only color allowed is a tiny logo for the shoe brand), non-mesh/absorbent on the outside, and they can't scuff floors. They must have backs as well, no clogs or crocs. Hope that helps!

Perfect, thank you so much for letting me know! Another question-is Medical terminology included in the nursing curriculum or is everyone expected to already have a basic understanding? I didn't see a class specifically titled medical terminology, so I wasn't sure.. I took a med term course in my last semester of college, but that's been two years ago and I don't remember any of it! =\
