Is anybody else out there applying to Navarro? The deadline is fast approaching and I'm already a nervious wreck. Last year's students started a thread to support each other during the wait and I have read it so many times. I thought it would be good to start another one for all of us who are already worried sick...hoping and praying that we've done enough to achieve our dream...

I am also applying for the ADN and LVN program at Navarro. I did not do well on the Teas so I am kind of worried. I emailed one of the ladies this morning about my grade. I think with your points you both have a great chance. I have read the threads from last year and people got in with 102 points(: I was not award of any essay that we needed to be writing. I also asked her about that. Hopefully we will all get in!!

at the info session saturday they made it sound like we only needed that letter if we were seeking points for the statistics and chemistry classes. mine was very short. she also told us that the points went down to 101-103 range (she couldn't remember an exact number) and that they took people who were very close to the national average on the test but not below...that she could remember. were you at or above the national average on the teas?

I have not taken statistics or chemistry but i went ahead and wrote a short letter letting her know that I do intend to pursue a BSN after completing the ADN program. I was a little confused about what she said about writing it only if we wanted the credit for those classes. But on the paper it said to write a letter of intent to how we will pursue a BSN. So I went ahead and sent one just in case. I have everything turned in now.

Hello. Not to be nosy but I am starting my 2nd semester in the ADN program at Navarro and thought I would tell you some more info from a students point of view. It's a great program, and the instructors are amazing. We found out our acceptance/denial in April last spring. That waiting seems like nothing compared to the wait time after your acceptance to the start of classes.

Not, sure what else you want to know, but I will answer any questions you have.

Good Luck!!!!

Be as nosy as you want! you are probably about to call us nosy lol. My first question is how many points did you have? How old are you and do you have children and/or a job while in school?

I think I figured I had about 115-119 points, but alot of people I am in class with had less than that because they hadnt completed all of the other non-nursing classes before starting ADN program. I just turned 30 and have a husband and 3 kids ranging ages 12,7,5. I dont work but several people in class do. I personally think that if you dont have to work then you shouldnt but if you have to then you need to have a job that will let you be flexible with the days you come in. Cause you pretty much go everyday for the first month to 6 weeks. After that we only went roughly 3 days a week - Clinicals M or T, Testing-W, Lecture- TH all day, and Free day- F for at home studying.

i don't feel so bad. i have 5 kids...18, 16, 10, 8, and 3...and i'll be 36 this summer. i figured that i could either be 40 in a job that i hate or 40 in a job that i love. do you know how many people actually applied last year?

No, I dont know how many applied. They dont tell you that.

I made right at the national average. I was very suprised because when I took the HeSI for TVCC I scored high on the reading. I think the time just freaked me out. I have all the courses that I need for extra points hopefully that will help me. I have all my shots and I am mailing my paperwork Monday morning(: I do not have chemistry or stats yet. I also scored B on all my antomy and micro courses. I have several friends that are in the RN and LVN programs at Navarro they just love the program. I also have friends that have graduated and really praise the teachers and tell me how much they loved Navarro. I am 34 and have three children. I do not work school is my full time job(: Good luck everyone!!

I am 21 and do not have any kids but I do have a job that I will hopefully be quitting if I get accepted. I don't have much of a social life as it is so I know I can handle it if people who carry jobs and take care of families at the same time can handle it. I know it can't be easy going to school full time while taking care of a big family so I applaud all of you who do it every day.

I'm in the 2nd semester of the ADN program as well! If you have any questions just let us know!

In regards to how many people applied, I believe I heard somewhere between 400-600 (applications coming from as far north as Dallas).

The teachers are AMAZING!!!!!!! Many of us began the program without any prior knowledge of anything medical...but the teachers are patient and willing to help in any way they can.

so the applications are in and the completely irrational checking of the email has already started. this is going to be the longest wait of my life...
