Methodist (SA) New Grad Residency

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello all! I just landed a position as a new grad RN on an ICU floor at Methodist. I was hoping that I could get some information from RNs who have participated in this program. I have a few questions and would like to know how your schedule was during the residency. I do not start till 7/13/15 so would also love info on books to read to help with the transition to an ICU position.Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi kaligirl02,

Congrats on your offer. Which Methodist? And which ICU? Was it a verbal offer?

I also got one for Downtown methodist, but not sure when they would send an official email.

Congrats again

Hi! Thank you and Congratulations to you as well! The position I was offered is for CICU at Main Methodist. The director called and offered it to me and said that I should be hearing something from HR today or sometime this week. Are you taking the position?

Yes, I accept the offer, but still not believe it until I get that official email.

Are you living in the area? I'm coming from California.

I'm actually originally from California as well! I've been living here for the past 18 months though. I understand your hesitation! I keep looking at my phone and making sure that the ringer is on! Were you down here on Friday for the meet and greet?

Me too! I was a little bummed on the pay (I read about it on previous posts), but it's my dream job so I'll get over it.

Yeah, I know. It pays less than what I make now as a nurse assistant. ICU is my dream as well :)

I know! I'm an (was) LVN in home health, but now an RN in home health and both pay a lot more. I'll probably pick up a shift once a week to have some extra play money, once the residency is done in November. Did you interview for the Main Methodist ICUs as well?

Hi, do you mind sharing the pay with me? Smy wife currently makes a little over $23. We are from Michigan but my wife is about to apply to a new graduate icu position with them(Houston). Did you have any experience at all? My wife has been working as an RN(progressive care) for the past 8 months in one of the biggest hospitals down here and nationally and also holds 2 bachlor degrees one being RN-BSN. Does she have any chance? Thank you so much.

Sorry, we applied for Methodist San Antonio. They are not affiliated with Methodist in Houston. I did see a few posts talking about the pay scale for Methodist Houston though.

I believe it was main hospital. I was only interviewing for ICUs. In case I move there in July, do you know which areas could be good to live, and rent affordable apartment?
