MD Anderson Residency

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi everyone,

I received an interview for the MD Anderson Clinical Nurse Residency Program starting hopefully mid-March. I'm incredibly nervous because this is my first call back.

Anybody have any tips on... How the interviews are conducted? How many are interviewed? What units at the hospital are available to work in? And did anybody else get an interview?

Thanks!

weird, I had a phone screen interview last Friday, but I'm out of state so maybe they do it differently. was hoping to hear back by now, guess I'll call them again.

anyone else apply from out of state?

Hi chelseafm...I'm from out of state and I want to apply for their summer program. Prior to applying did you apply for a temporary Texas RN license and pay the $200? Thank you so much :)

I did not apply for the TX license yet. I didn't want to spend the money if I was not offered a job in that state. I believe you just need a license prior to your actual start date.

Thanks chelseafm. Did you apply for the residency that starts this summer? Did you get an offer or still waiting? Thanks :) good luck :)

Just an FYI. They have closed the summer program to new applicants. They completed interviews last week.

@ leighanna they are still interviewing.

They started a new round for summer, the job post indicated April/May graduates.

Specializes in Cardiac Unit, Tele, Med/Surg, Oncology,.

I applied TX Rn since January it took 1 1/2 month to process. Most of the jobs posted is saying needs TX license to apply, i know its a lot of money but if you want to get that job you must invest thats just me... Good luck..

Do you guys know when the application for the summer program ends? I'm applying for my license today but wanna get a temporary license before I submit my new grad app. Do you know how quick they process temporary license? Thanks for all the help! You guys rock!!!

Hi Everyone! I still have not heard anything about scheduling my second interview yet, has anybody else heard anything? Also, anybody who has sent me a private message, for some reason, they will not let me reply. They said I have to participate in 15 quality topics or something? I don't know.

As far as people applying without licenses, I don't really know the answer to that but personally, I would apply regardless of your license status, and then if you happen to get your license, update your profile with the new status. I applied to hospitals all over the country before and after I got my license. I received call-backs before AND after I got my license. I think because we are new grads, they expect that you will get your license. Your license status can be updated, but you never know when the application periods are going to close, so I think it would be best to get your application in while you have the opportunity.

As far as the Texas license, I am out of state and I did have a first interview with MD Anderson before transferring my license. I am not going to transfer yet because I am interviewing in other states as well. I believe the application said that you will just be expected to have the license before the start date.

Hope this helps! Good luck everybody and keep us updated!

@alw246 thank you for the words of encouragement!!! Have an awesome day :)

"I am sorry to inform you that you have not been selected to move forward for this position" such a bummer to read that email but I really appreciate the follow up, so many other applications have left me hanging. good luck to everyone!!
