My husband is being transferred to Austin, and I couldn't be more thrilled. I am originally from there many years ago. Anyway, can someone fill me in on the hospitals to work at in Austin. I have 2 years med-surg and 1 year of... Read More

I got a call/interview from SMC off of 38th St, I'm sooo excited! This is my second time applying to the Seton Versant Residency, and I did not expect any call backs because of the same thing all of ya'll were hearing about how it's very difficult to get into a specialty. I'm hoping this might work out! Still super nervous, I'm sure it's super competitive...

    Hey RN4LOVE,

When is your interview? Did you apply for NICU? Good luck if you haven't had your interview yet.

If you don't mind me asking, did you have an interview last time you applied?

Yes! It is in the NICU. Crazy...I know! It's on Tuesday.
This is my second time applying, and my first interview.

and, Thank you! I hope it goes well!

Please don't take this the wrong way but I don't think you are a nurse yet based upon your previous post that says you will graduate in May.

Most likely, you will pass the NCLEX and do fine in the versant program, but until then you are not a cardiac medsurge or any other kind of nurse.

Hopefully someday you will understand where I am coming from.

I'm not sure about Texas, but in many states it is against the law to call yourself a nurse unless you actually are.

I work at St. Davids South Austin Medical Center. Started as a new grad, and I absolutley love it. I have a year and 4months under my belt. The nurses there are all very team oriented and are soooo helpful. I absolutley love my floor. The managers are also so caring and helpful. You are never alone there, and its the best hospital system in Austin I think!!

Working in the NICU in Austin is my dream job, did you do anything different the second time applying? I'm currently working in a different city on a different floor with less than 1 year of experience but I'm applying to the October cohort? Any tips? Thanks (:

Hi! Do you ever check this? Can't figure out how to send you an email, but I do have a couple questions about applying to Seton hospitals.
I'd love to hear what advice you have!
    Thanks!
    Michelle
