Anyone applying? Does anyone know if there is a traditional program for kingwood?

@ikegrad2002. Yes, I have taken all my prerequisite in addition to all the recommended classes. I believe I'm currently sitting at 26 credit hours. And no, I have not taken the Hesi exam; However I do plan to take it and hopefully have everything ready before the application deadline. To anyone who has taken the hesi, how detailed are the anatomy questions? Are there any diagrams? I've read quite a bit of people struggle with reading comprehension, is it that hard?

Nope. No diagrams. There are 30 anatomy and physiology questions. I forgot to add that to other post.

Thanks for the info!

By the way, when you say anatomy and physiology questions, does that include basic chemistry/physics? Because I believe those subjects are lightly integrated in the A and P courses taught at Lone star.

Or are there not any chemistry/physics questions at all? I plan to take it as soon as I brush up on my math knowledge..

I am applying to the ADN Lonestar nursing program on Friday- for fall 2013 start. Montgomery, North Harris, then Kingwood in that order for priority of schools. I have an 11.2 and am a little nervous. I went to a nursing info session at montgomery this summer and was told that the cut off for north harris was a 8.6 last application period (seems really low but gives me hope) and that montgomery is 11.2-11.4. I am wondering if i should switch and make NH my first choice since thats the one i am most likely to get in to...any thoughts???

No chem or physics questions at all..the only thing remotely close to chem questions are the cell wall which you learn in AP1. Just be sure to brush up on conversations, fraction conversations, and ratios and proportions...its pretty basic math.

Switching won't make a difference. Every applicant is basically put on a giant list in order of points. They start at the top and work their way down putting people in their first choice programs. When a campus is full they put people who requested it into their second choice. And so on and so forth. So absolutely put schools in the order of what you'd want most. The worst thing that happens is you maybe get wait listed at Moco and get into NH. And Montgomery takes quite a few wait listers every year because a lot of people with grades high enough to get in there also have grades high enough to get into BSN programs.

Thanks so much for your reply :) I will keep moco for my first choice and nh as my second and keep my fingers tightly crossed my 11.2 is good enough to get in somewhere!!!

No problem! I'm positive you'll get in somewhere. :) Good luck!

hey guys!

I just withdrawn from the program due to change my major. I've been in nursing program just for 2 months

Your information is incorrect. I am in the ADN program at Kingwood, and I had an 11.9 when I got in, and it was right in the middle. I also had two degrees and a 3.78 total GPA to back it up...Nobody gets in anymore with even 1 b in the 3 core classes.

Actually...every semester the minimum score to get in is different, depending on how many students apply and what their totals are. I was accepted into the fall 2012 Cyfair program with an 11.3 and there were scores below mine that got in to. So yeah it's definitely different every semester, so don't get discouraged.... It's not impossible :)

I am an LVN here in Spring and am working on my prerequisites for the LVN-RN Transition program. I am wondering how my scores for A&P I-II will be considered for my points if they were taken over 10 yrs ago. I am now signed up this Fall for the A&P Refresher, as well as English and Gen Psych. I never took any of the core courses before pursuing my LVN. I don't suppse I will be eligible to apply for the Transition program until I complete Micro, which i will take in the spring. Is this correct? I wanted to be able to turn in my application during the Jan - March window coming up. When will the next window for application acceptance be after that?

Btw, congrats on getting in and let us know how the program is going for you. I am very interested in the Quest program too.

If you or anyone else can give me some guidance, I would certainly appreciate it! :)

Thanks!
