Anyone applying? Does anyone know if there is a traditional program for kingwood?

I received a call from Mrs A. to notify me I was accepted at Cy-fair today. Are we required to register for the RNSG classes ourself, or are we automatically in them, per acceptance of the program? I haven't seen any info on the LSC website. Thanks.

UMMMMM How am I suppose to know who is who if majority of everyone on here doesn't have their picture up? LOL!

Congrats Veronica. I'm at Kingwood, so I'm not sure how it works at Cyfair but one of the ladies in the nursing department registers everyone there. That is great I suppose since you can't mess up your schedule but bad in the sense that you don't hold the power to choose the course section and you've got to take what they give you.

My name is Lee Ann. I'll probably be the only Lee Ann there. I find it isn't a common name for people of my age (30+). I'll be shocked if there is another one :)

LOL! OK, I will remember your name ;)

Is anyone planning to buy the e-book package? I'm wanting to know if you like e-books compared to regular text. I've never used an e-book before (they weren't available last time I was in college) and I don't have an e-reader/kindle because I'm not much of a reader. I talked with someone at the bookstore and she went thru some of the pros and cons with me. Just wondering who likes the e-books and why because I can't decide whether I should give them a try.

Oops. (See comments below)

I've used textbooks along with the corresponding e-books for the first time this year. Here are a cpl of my PROS: You don't have to have a nook or kindle. You can download the software to your laptop or home computer easily. #1-if you want to search something in your textbook, it may take you a few minutes to flip through the index and chapters, but in the e-book, you can type in the search field and you'll get a list of everything related to that search. #2- you can type important notes and comments directly into your e-books. These notes are saved and will always be available. You can then see a full report of all notes . #3-you can highlight text in your e-book with multiple colors and as much as you want. #4-you can print any page from your e-book, you can print pages with notes, pages with highlights, etc. Also, it has the same exact info as your book.

CONS: the e-book doesn't show exactly the same as your text. You may not know which page is which unless you look closely at your monitor. And your eyes may get tired from using your e-book a lot.

It all depends on personal preference really. I don't think it's an absolutely necessity. They're more convenient, if anything. But if you don't feel like carrying all of those heavy books everywhere, you'll still have them available on your iPad, laptop, smartphone, etc. Hope this helps a little!

Yes, thanks. I guess I have a lot of thinking to do.

iamleeann, I think I will just do the book package versus the e-books. I never used e-books before and I would be afraid it might crash or stop working one day, maybe they won't. IDK. I'd rather not take that chance tho. That's just me. LOL

I'm seriously thinking of getting the e-book, especially since I can print from it but I have the same concerns you listed. I'm really torn since it would be new to me.

If you think it is something you want to do, then go ahead. I wasn't trying to discourage you from getting it :); I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to use. Honestly I was considering the e-books because the price look way better than the text book package LOL.

My husband and I talked and since I'm in Quest and the didactic portion is online, I'm going to try e-books. If I don't like it, I'll just print the entire book out. The price is actually a reason why I was interested in it and so I wouldn't have to lug the books. I figure, if the world is ending and I can't get access to the e-books...I've got bigger problems.
