Lonestar Fall 2013 hopefuls

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi everyone!

I just submitted my application for the Fall 2013 Lonestar College basic track ADN program. LSC-Montgomery is my first choice, followed by LSC-North Harris, and LSC-Tomball.

I applied with an 11.81. Has anyone else out there applied, or are you preparing to apply?

Looking forward to starting a supportive and informative Lonestar thread, as applicants have the past few years

Awww man that sucks Kevann...I am sorry. Sounds like I need to send you and **** some good juju with this whole titer thing.

Hi aruru,

I was wondering if you have received your blue card. I did my fingerprinting on the same day as you 04/25 but I have not received it yet

I have had been in trouble... I called BON and the lady said my fingerprint is on issue... she didnt know what it was, so she requested to somewhere(maybe FBI??) It would take 3-5 days so im now just waiting with dying...

Worst case is that I have to redo my fingerprint. Good thing is that I called to school today and the due of the blue card is the first day of summer school which I chose July 31st one so i have still almost 2 months.

My friend who did fingerprint on the same day as me has already got her blue card last week. So I recommend you to call BON to confarm.

Our date for NH is July 18th. My 3rd Hep B vaccination is not until July 25th :nailbiting:, i have emailed some people at NH about it but no one has gotten back to me. I went and had a titer drawn with the hopes of being positive for immunity but NOPE! So that July 18th deadline is too early for me. I sure wish someone would get back to me. I don't see why it would be a problem considering we wont be in clinical yet but i want a for sure answer. Other than that, everything is complete for me on certified background. Although, the HIPAA form is still not available and we got an email a few days ago they are working on it.

If you will call MoCo, they will tell you exact due date at that time. I wish I could tell you the place thet I've got Hep B, which was 1 month accerelate series!

Sorry aruru for the late reply. I think it just depends on your preference. I tried to use VitalSource/PageBurst with my iPad and really liked the cross-referencing and note taking capabilities, but it was a strain on my eyes because of the amount of time I spent reading for pathophysiology and pharmacology. There was one gal at NH RN program who used her iPad for EVERYTHING, had all of her textbooks, notes, etc. on it. Then one day we came in for an exam, and she couldn't find some notes or the app wouldn't load properly. I felt really bad, but it was enough for me to continue to stay old school, buy textbooks and take notes longhand. If they're discounting the eBooks now then that's awesome. I saved like ten dollars total for my two VitalSource textbooks...not really that much, and in the end bought the physical textbooks too because of the eye train. Go with what works best for you. You'll have an advantage if you are searching for a certain topic because it'll pull it from all sources, which is really awesome. I hope this helps!

Thank you your information! hmmm... I wish I could buy both, but it's out of my budget...

Does nursing skills online version 2.0 contain ebook?

Wahoo! One step closer for the rest of us!

Hey guys! Hope everything is going well and you're getting more things crossed off your list. Brian, have you looked lately to see if all classes were registered for? Wondering how many people are still waiting to hear from other schools. Congratulations to addismama (Shari) on getting into Montgomery off the alternate list today! You go girl!

I haven't seen anything yet on mylonestar site. I know we all put our prioritized list in for NH but I think they wait for everything until after the June orientation. I am getting really anxious about Montgomery getting back to me because I really don't want to buy anything till I know for sure where I am going to end up. So frustrating.

Trust me it hurt to buy both in the end. (Grin) Nursing Skills Online Version 2.0 is a 12 page booklet giving us an access code to join and online class through Elsevier/Evolve, sort of like Blackboard, or ANGEL. The textbook, Clinical Nursing Skills and Techniques comes in an eBook format through store.vitalsource.com for 67$

Also for those who need to by any textbooks published by Mosby or Elsevier, they are having a 20% off sale with no minimum to spend, and free shipping through 28-May. I may go ahead and get the two summer class texts. Check it out: www.us.elsevierhealth.com

Hey brilaneb, yeah they won't register you in the summer class until after all the June orientation. I looked back in my emails from last year and they registered us on 14-June and had to pay the same day, just to give you a point of reference, however, I think that you will hear something form MC before that time, so hang loose, and keep your fingers crossed and DON'T go out and buy two pages of textbooks. I am definitely holding off on book buying for a couple of weeks. I just don't want to be too far behind on the readings for MC if I get a slot. That is a lot of reading we have to complete.

I can't imagine that would be an issue, especially if you have the documentation saying that you can get the booster 7 days after the deadline. I wouldn't worry.

I couldn't get discount... When I put promo code, there was error. If you can get discount, please let me know how to do it.

I tried as well and it wouldn't let me apply the promotional code, if you go back and read it has a disclaimer about how it doesn't cover some of the nursing books, so maybe that's why it wont work!? No clue really! I just went on amazon today to check and you can get both summer books for about $85 each! So I just might do that instead, because i went to the school today and they don't have those books in stock until maybe next week! I need to get on top of this summer reading asap!!
