Lone Star Fall 2012 ADN Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I applied to Lone Star - ADN program Spring 2012. I was accepted as an alternate. I am hoping to get a call from the nursing department saying there is a spot for me. If not I will be reapplying for the next application period for entrance to the program in the Fall 2012. Good luck everyone!!!!

I had an in-state matter and it took 6 weeks and three days from the time I mailed in the declatory order along with the processing fee. Good Luck!

Did you have to do a declatory form? If so how long did it take to get your approval? I had to send one due to something that happened to me 13 years ago. I won't go into details but it was a misdemeanor.

Yes I had to do a declaratory form which is why I wasn't able to start in the spring. Once I went to orientation they told me and I wouldn't have received information back from the BON by the deadline for LoneStar acceptance. They make you have all of that in order to finalize your acceptance. My advice to you would be to fill out the form now and send in everything required so that when you take the background check, everything will be in order. As soon as they send me the background check this time I will take it immediately to make sure I don't have any issues even though I already have my letter from BON stating it's fine.

I would check the BON website to see if you even need to declare a misdemeanor depending on what it is for. Although, like I said, mine was dismissed and they still wanted proof.

I just changed my school preference because I decided to pick Montgomery as my first choice. Looks like gmarks and Steph and I will all be in class together!! YEA!!

Swweetipie, yay, I hope so! I know moco has the fewest spots, so I'm still holding my breath until I get that letter, haha! And my a&p score was abysmal so if it comes down to a tie, I'm toast. That's what I get for not studying, but I literally made the decision to apply this semester on Friday morning!

Montgomery cut off has been around 11.5 or 11.6. You are fine. Breathe a sigh of relief! Montgomery takes around 45 students where as North Harris takes closer to 80. Montgomery also received funding last year to expand their program by 10% each year. This was the reason it is so much more competitive. They couldn't take as many students so the cut off is higher.

Also, I feel you on the AP section. I studied the h@ll out of 2 entrance exam books and I don't feel that it helped at all. The books were very basic and the questions on the test were much more detailed. If you didn't already have ap 1&2 and micro, it would be difficult to pass.

The questions WERE way more detailed than I expected! I was really thinking they'd be general basic questions. But if the study guides didn't cover them, studying wouldn't have helped me because I really doubt I would've covered those things on my own. I took A&P 1 maybe...7 years ago? And the refresher course was super random and open book so I didn't get much refreshing from it. Oh well, it is what it is! I'm just happy I had the other classes recently enough to pass!

Heading out to turn my application in! Yay! :)

I got 11.6532 and my choices were Tomball, Cyfair, Montgomery (:

My math score was 90 and my AP was....not good. 76. ):

fingers crossed!

@blondie12 -- you will absolutely get in! I wouldn't stress too much. Be sure to start your Hep B vaccine now. That goes for everyone applying. I know when I went to new student orientation last year they said if you haven't started it then you wouldn't be able to be in the program. And many people were very upset! I think LoneStar requires it actually be finished before clinicals and they start clinicals the second week. UT and TWU is different because you don't start clinicals until the 6th week.

You can get all your vaccines for super cheap at Montgomery Health Clinic in Conroe. They charge only $10. I was paying $90 per Hep B shot. They can probably also offer the fast track Hep B series which is completed in like 2 months instead of 6.
