Hesi A2 applying for UT Houston

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I read some threads on here that some of you guys don't have to take the biology and chemistry section on the Hesi A2 exam? I just took it today, and I had both of them. I did an ok scored on everything except the vocabulary and general knowledge. I made a 66% on that. THe other scores were high. The only section that brought my score down was that one plus english and chemistry. Its been 3 years since I took those. My prereq gpa is 3.9 something though. Can we take the exam again but just on the section where I made a low grade. I was just buzzing through finish test in 2 hours 30 min. I didn't have enough sleep the previous night. My overall score is 80%. Should I retake it again? The deadline is september 1. I was wondering since I took this one before the deadline. Can I take the other one anytime as long as its before the spring semester start?

no you ahve to take another one and get a 75 on all required sections. I confirmed this with admissions. i had 86 overall and a 74 on the vocab.

have to retake before the deadline

I think if you want to retake the HESI, you need to do it before the app deadline of September 1. Also, I did have the Chemistry and Biology sections on my test, but I just skipped them and it did not affect my overall score. Since Chemistry isn't required, I dont think UT will look at that score as a deciding factor.

omg I should of known that . I spent majority of my time studying that. I did read on their webpage that they didnt need it. It show up on my exam though so I figure I had to do it. So my cumulative score was much higher then huh. I was wondering why so many people made up in the high 80s. So really you can just skip it and they dont count it? They did added into my overall grade. My critical thinking was 850 or something. Damn it I wish I would of known that I could skip it. Could spend those time figuring the vocabulary more. I have to pay $90 more dollars now to take another one. Sigh.

Hey everyone, I have a question about retakes. I did well on everything, except for reading, grammar, and vocab (I think it was bc I kind of rushed through it knowing that'll be timed and all). But my question is once you retake the exam, it required/ a must that you have to complete the whole exam again, or can we just retake the ones we need to?

Thanks in advance!!

That same question was asked elsewhere. At one school I tested for, you could retake one time any section that needed improvement. Other people said their schools made them repeat the whole thing. It probably helps you to repeat the entire thing, assuming you'll do better on all sections the second time.

what did u have problems on?

so can you retake the HESI twice before the deadline?? i took mine two weeks ago and made a 68 on the A&P section so if i can take it again before the deadline i would like to do that

Hey I took my HESI A2 back in September and got an overall score of 89%. I'm not too unhappy with my score but I keep seeing scores for the critical thinking portion of the exam and its starting to freak me out! I do not have a score on my results page for the critical thinking portion of the exam. Does anyone know where I could find that or why it would not be on the paper I received after taking my test? I'm really starting to worry that I made some sort of mistake and took the wrong thing.

Did you get your grades for critical thinking. Just put in elsevier student then put in your id and pw. Then you can view your critical thinking grade.

i was wondering if I can take just one portion of the TEAs to raise my score ..... or must I take the entire test over again????

I do not think you can take only a portion of the Hesi. You will have to retake the entire test and they will take the later scores, not the better. HTH
