HCC Spring 2012-Houston Community College

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi Everyone,

I'll be applying for HCC Spring 2012. I was intending on taking my prerequisites in the Fall, but I've decided to knock out A&P II and Micro this summer to avoid any complications in the application process. I'm getting conflicting reports that prereqs have to be complete BEFORE the application is due, then others say that I'm allowed 1 course in progress. Not sure, so just to be on the safe side I've opted to register for both courses over the summer.

I hope this thread will bring together all the Houston Community College Spring 2012 applicants.

Goodluck Everyone:D

Nice to meet you Misty! I'm Michelle. You've been an ANGEL!! Thanks for the encouragement. This is the only class I'll be taking this semester so I'll be dedicating the next 16 weeks to this class. Please keep in touch with us so that we see how things are going for you.

@MC93 - I hear ya! I remember that was one of the first things that the Director said in the ER meeting..."You will have to make sacrifices if you want this!" I have a full time job as well and I can't just pick up and leave for a meeting.

I know that we will ALL make it!!!!!!!

Misty,

About the shots....you said they will check us off for completion at orientation. Which Orientation?? The one that is on the first day of the Pharm class? I have to get the flu shot and the Meningicoccal vaccine and I'd like to get that completed asap.

I am so thankful I came across all of you on this message board! Thank you!

I am glad I found this message board and all of you- thank you!

Hey, CareAngel! Nope. The day they checked us off for shots was the first day of the actual Nursing Orientation at Coleman College, for us, on the first Friday of our 2 orientation days.

I got the go to take RNSG 1301 but don't know for which one to sign up. Wonder which professor goes with each section. All sections say staff. I have heard of this one teacher that was horrible. Also does pharmacology only meet once a week?

Do we have to get a 90 or above to go onto the nursing program?

Im scared any help or advice would help.

Hello.

I just passed Pharmacology with Mrs. Mosqueda and got a B in the class. To answer your question, yes, you have to make a 90% or above on the Math Test to get into the program. Don't worry, they show you everything you need to know and they have a tutor to help you out. Do NOT shoot yourself in the foot and leave the studying for the math test for the last minute. As soon as you start the class, you will be given A LOT of busy work to complete. Do yourself a favor and complete everything that is assigned to you. Those grades just might save you from failing the course with a D.

If you have any other questions, please, feel free to ask.

Good luck! :stdnrsrck:

...Pharmacology, for me, met twice a week.

But you can't pick the section with the professor that you want because none of the sections have a specific professor, they all say staff. What campus did you take it at?

Also,do you have to get an A in the course or just the math portion of the exam to go on?

Thanks for your quick responses!

You can't choose your teacher on purpose. You have to make at least a C in class and a 90% or above to pass and get accepted. I took Pharmacology at the Katy Campus.

Good luck!
