i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.

my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)

Yeah, I should have taken a leave to or dropped the classes, but I was 20 years old, so I guess I wasn't thinking. Plus, I lived in family housing on campus, so I guess I thought I had to stay and try.

On top of everything else, three weeks after I had my little girl, I had this pain in my chest and I thought I was having a heart attack!

I had this pain intermittently for 8 months. I went to the ER 8 times with attacks of pain and I missed so much class because I'd wake up in the middle of the night or I would not have slept because I was up all night with the pain.

The very first time I went to the ER via ambulance because I thought I was dying ( the pain is that bad) the nurse actually asked me about what was really wrong with me, but ended up saying that I was too young to have them.

Turns out I did have GALLSTONES, and that pain is worse than childbirth!

Anyway, that and all the other stuff I had going on contributed to my failing out. I think I only passed one or two classes during that, not because I couldn't do it, but because I didn't go to class d/t depression, the new baby, the gallstones, and the abuse.

I know you can be a nurseif you want to. Just believe in your abilities.

I'm trying to. I just need to boost my confidence.

I looked at UT-Arlington's website again and it turns out they no longer count your cumulative GPA for admission to their BSN program if you have a previous bachelor's degree; at least that's the impression I got. So it looks like I may try to apply to their program as well as a DCCCD program. It makes me feel a bit better. I also have an A&P textbook that I got a couple of years ago...I get college textbooks off e-Bay because I enjoy reading them in my spare time, and I have all kinds. I read the first chapter of the A&P book last night and my head was swimming. It's pretty scary stuff. I wish I could see a copy of the ones they're using in nursing programs in north Texas.

BTW- I found out that there are 110 questions on HESI and that the faculty was able to choose which ones to test us on based on what we've learned so far so that's a little good news. The reason why it's supposed to last so long is because we're going to review the ones we missed right after we get our score. I really don't think I'll need 4 hours to take a 110 question test and review it. It only took me about 39 minutes to take the 100 question final which is probably not a good thing but oh well....I was sitting at a B no matter what :lol2:

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE TAKING HESI TODAY!! I just can't wait to get my dang break started!!

Thank you Mi'Shelle! I hope this nasty weather isn't any indication of how I will do on the exam hahaha. I am fully prepared to do case studies over the winter break and I think everyone is at this point.

Is the weather bad?

.....Just extremely foggy out.

It's suppose to burn off pretty soon and be partly cloudy and warm today. :)

Hello everyone,

I have posted her a couple of times so you may/may not recognize me. I am starting at BHC next month and I am getting so excited.

I am trying to pick up a few things to make NS a little easier and I have totally appreciated all the "wish lists" and advise that I have seen in your posts.

HERE IS MY QUESTION...can anyone recomend a laptop, PDA, voice recorder, etc. that is cohesive to NS? One concern that I have on the voice recorder is... if my lecture is in a large lecture hall (I don't know yet), I want a recorder that will have clear playback.

OR, if there is a brand/model to stay away from.

I love the support and friendship that y'all have for each other and I hope that BHC NS will be just as awesome as you!

Good luck on those HESI's!!!

Allison,

Good luck on HESI! At least you will know once you leave whether you passed or not, so that's a good thing. What is the passing score? Didn't they use to make you repeat the semester is you failed HESI? I would rather do casestudies than repeat the whole semester. Let us know how it goes.

I'm prepared to do case studies too!!!! I didn't really study like I should have because I started my break early because I only had this week to myself...:lol2:

My wintermester starts today and I won't be there.... I let my instructor know that I have to take the HESI and he seemed pretty cool about it. Good luck Allison and Katie!!!!

El Centro says we have to score 900 eventhough 850 is passing. We don't have to repeat the semester, we just have to do 6 case studies and pass those with a 90. You can do the case studies as many times until you get a 90, but they have to be completed by Dec. 30.
