Im moving to dallas in June and I was wondering how the job market was looking in that area. I just graduated from nursing school in dec so I will only have about 6 months experience. Does anyone know what the pay is like for new lvn's? or any good places to work or live?

I just returned to DFW this September after living in another state for a couple years. In my opinion, I think the job market for LVNs around here is being flooded by the increasing number of new graduates every year. There still seems to be plenty of job openings in LTC, but it's difficult to be hired at a hospital as there is few openings with more competition. However there seem to be many ads for openings in doctor's offices/clinics. I work in hospice which usually requires 1-2 years experience. LTC pays the most for LVNs around here, about $18-20/hr for your experience level. Acute care hospitals pay a bit lower like $15-17/hr, rehab/LTACHs pay around as much as LTC from what I understand. I'm not sure entirely sure but I think Dr.s offices/clinics pay on the lower end like $15-16/hr. With less than 3 years experience I will make about $50,000 this year which includes about 5-6 hours OT every week, but I always have 3-4 days off a week. I live in the South Arlington area and like it here. I'm not very familiar with Dallas as I have only lived in Fort Worth or Arlington areas.
