CRNA student Needs in state tuition...

  1. Hello, Can anybody tell me how to get in state tuition in Texas. Not for me but for my girlfriend who may be attending UT-Arlington or Tarrent County Community. I have a relative in Texas is there a way to establish in state residency. What proof do you need? etc.

The only way I am familiar with because I did it myself is that she has to "prove" her residency by working one year in the state of Texas. There might be other clauses and I am sure if you do a search on the UTA site there may be a FAQ section about this. I worked my one year and it was worth it! They did verify my status the day I went to register for classes so proof is needed. Hope this helps.

The only legal way is to live there for a year and have receipts to prove it.
State funding is for students who have had taxes paid to the state over the past year, by either them or whoever is caring for them....................

You may want to check and see if they have a Manpower shortage program there. I know in the state of Maryland, out of state people can get in-state tuition if there career is highly needed (we KNOW nursing is one of them). Call the Texas Education Dept. (the one who gives out state loans and scholarships). They are the BEST people to get answers from (sometimes colleges don't know themselves).

I believe TCU charges the same in state and out of state for tuition. Good luck!

I go to TCC and live out of county ,the only time I have had to prove redidency was when I moved into Tarrant county. That would have meant my tuition would have dropped. I know TCC has out of county and out of state rates. My husband goes to UTA and I am 99% sure they only have out of state rates. I remember having to use my drivers license at one point. But I think you can get a letter from whoever your living with . My point here is you can get around the system.
