Collin College Spring 2013 applicants

U.S.A. Texas

I recently applied to the nursing program for Spring 2013 but have not been a student at Collin College. I have heard numerous things about how you get accepted, the importance of the PSB score, whether or not you have a degree, etc. Anybody out there in the same boat as me? Wondering what's true and what isn't? I was also told we should get letters in the mail some time around September 11 either being accepted or rejected. True?

Any knowledge on this would be great!

I do not see any permit codes! There is a letter saying "Attached you will find a copy of your permit codes to use for registration as well as your spring syllabi and calendars". Problem is there is only a small slip of paper stapled to the letter with just my name, a list of CRNs, and the course names and times. No syllabi, no calendars (although I did get an email with those) no codes. There is also a page with the SurScan information (for the drug screen). But that's it. No "codes" that I can see other than the CRNs - and I get the error Field of Study Restriction and cannot register. So something is wrong.[/quote']

My codes were on the little slip of paper.

Darn to you having Thursday clinicals:( My permit codes were on the slip of paper with the courses.

That's strange. There was my name in the first "column", the CRNs in the second, the class in the third, and the day/time in the last column. What column were your codes in?

My permit codes were right after my name.. Before the course names..

My slip of paper only had CRNs but no permit codes. I guess Ill just have to ask them when I turn in the rest of my paperwork. Please let me know if you all hear anything else. Thanks!

I'm in the same boat apparently. When will they be back in office? I don't want my enrollment delayed any more than absolute minimum unnecessary because I am depending on the VA for the last of my GI bill and that takes a while. I'm already going out of pocket for the books, (overpriced) white scrubs, the kit, stethoscope, shoes, etc.

You do not need permit codes to register for classes. Charlene puts those in so you will be 'cleared' to register for nursing classes. All you need is your CRN's which tells you which section you need to register for. The reason you may be getting the Field of Study restriction is because you have not changed your major to Nursing. If you major does not say that it is nursing on your CougarWeb, then you need to go to admissions and fill out the form to have it changed. You will need your acceptance letter. You may need to call the nursing office to expedite the process as it can take a while.

oops..

Is there anyone out there starting in January with us that wouldn't mind trading their Wednesday clinical with me for Thursday?

THANK YOU!!! Mine said "Nursing Field Of Study", which is what admissions had set it to, prior to this semester. Now I know what I need to do.

Thanks for the info although I wish they would have addressed this during orientation. I think the office opens back up on Jan. 2nd. We should have no problems getting into our classes because we all have a spot reserved specifically for us. Thanks again for the help!

I agree they should have made sure to tell you that during orientation, I know they did for our class. But you are right that you will have no problem getting registered soon after they open back up. If you call the office they can usually get it done that day or the day after.
