Brookhaven nursing applicants for Spring 2014

U.S.A. Texas

I am applying to Brookhaven's nursing program to start in Spring 2014. Anyone else applying and if so, how far along are you in the process? I have all my prereq's done plus Micro, A&P II, Lifespan, Nursing Patho, and Pharmacology.

I eventually would like to go to UTA to do their bridge program for RN-BSN program. I am not sure about TWA but I heard it is very difficult to get in. You nearly have to have a 4.0 GPA to get accepted. As fas as Brookhaven is concerned, the prerequisites are Chemistry, English I, A&P I, and Psychology. You do not have to have any of the support courses done when you apply, but it does help to give you more points. I am not sure if the HESI is difficult or not. That is what I am studying for now. I plan on taking it in September at Brookhaven. There are still slots available to take it. On the DCCCD website for Brookhaven, on the Nursing Program page, there is a link about the HESI and all of the information you need is there. I am using a Nursing Entrance study guide that I purchased on my Nook for now. I will eventually try to get an official study guide. THe first day to take it is September 3rd. Also El Centro offers a Nursing program and their prerequisites are A&P I, English I, and Psychology. THey require no math for prerequisites!

El Centro requires college algebra

El Centro has changed their prereq's at least 3 times this year alone. The math was not a requirement just a month or so ago.

It is irritating to pick a program and give requirements change. This is my 3 Rd time. Decided to go thru my Jon's partner program cause it never changes.

I am currently in the process of applying to Brookhaven's Nursing Program for Spring 2014. I've been studying for the HESI exam, I'm super nervous about it! Anyone have any studying tips?

Thank you and the same to you!!!! My studying is going ok, but I am going to turn it up a bit!! Since the fall semester started I am not going to fall back on my HESI studying..I am so anxious and ready to get it over with so that I can know how many points I have. I really want a 95...That'll get me 33 points! How about you?

Thank you!!!!This has been very helpful!!

Has everyone already completed the dosage calc module? I'm confused by the book they tell you to get. I ordered it and started the module, the two don't seem to go together? Have I missed something?

Thanks for your answers!

I haven't started dosage calc yet. I should have already started it but I am behind on that. That sucks if the book is not correlating with the module. I hope you still get the 90% or better that is required. I am going to start mine next week. I am playing with fire waiting to do it, but I have faith I will make it.

I would compare a lot of it to the math on the hesi, minus the formulas you have to remember for intravenous flow rates and various other things. The book thing just cracks me up because it tells you to read something and well you can't. There are 15 modules, some are longer than others, right now I'm on number 11. 10 was the hardest I've had so far because there were some questions on the quiz that I feel wasn't discussed in detail. And while you can repeat the quiz over and over, they don't tell you how to get the right answer, just what the right answer is. After about a hour I finally figured it out by working the problems I missed backward to get to their "right" answer. On the plus side there are some practice problems in some of the lessons that have a "tutor" button with them that shows you step by step how to solve it. :).
