Board of Nurse Examiners?

U.S.A. Texas

anyone else hate the tx bne?? they make me so sick. i am a new grad and i applied for licensure in tx way back in november. i just recently got approved to practice as a gn in texas, but now i am already a gn in another state. i received a letter from the bne saying that although they had approved my application before, i would need to send them an additonal $150 on top of everything else i had sent them!!! oh, and my entire application is now invalid because i am a gn in another state, so i have to apply for endorsement when i become licensed in the other state. :angryfire: this means more $$ in additon to the previous $$, and the new $$! i just don't understand it!

i am also frustrated with their website. everything seems to directly contradict everything else on the website so far. and i can't even access the nurse practice act! how am i supposed to know the legal scope of practice for an rn in tx if i can't view the npa???

anyway, just putting my vote in to abolish the tx bne :rotfl:

thanks for letting me vent, and y'all have a good day.

Hmmm...It took me one click from the home page to find the practice act???? Just in case here it is. I wonder if your problem is that you may not have Adobe installed ???? But even if you do not, there is a link to view online...here that is.

Good luck!

on their website it says that texas has no practice act for vocational nurses. this might help you. to get there click on practice and then scope of practice and it says it right there.

steph:)

Thanks, but I am an RN, not an LPN. I can't get a full version of the NPA for RN's. It seems like there are lots of links but no real easy to read info. But thanks anyway.

Like any agency, it is a bureaucratic and the language ican be difficult to understand. This is why I attend legal seminars every chance I get...and all Texas BNE sponsored seminars and updates.

I suggest you send for your own copy of the NPA...I do...then I can review it at my leisure. :)

the entire 85 page document is there...and here :) ...w/o one single link in it if you still can't access it at previous link, then you need to install adobe reader from here.

good luck!

It is Nekhismom looking for it...I am well versed in my practice act. But thanks for posting the link...others here may benefit from it. :)

I tried that link before, but for some reason i get a lot of section numbers, all with links to the info. i have acrobat reader, and I have tried it from 2 different computers. They both contain many links, and it is just frustrating all the way around.

MY GOD, 85 PAGES OF AN NPA????? Thanks, Mattsmom, I will send for a copy and review it at my leisure. Who can read 85 on-line pages at one time???

You are welcome. And I knew that it was Nekhismom looking for the info, but I was replying to your statement about sending off for it. It is easily accessible online...for those of us who like the instant gratification :rotfl:

Not to beat a dead horse, but there are two links at the BNE website (side by side), one of the links does have many links in it (the first one), but the other one (the one I posted last) does not have one link in it. It is the actual document that you would get if you sent off for it from the BNE.

There are some folks who prefer reading online, but for those of us who do not the printer is a very handy tool :)

thanks. I tried it again tonight and it actually worked. The NPA is really LONG and drawn out. It basically says the same things that the VA NPA does, only it drags it out!

there is no practice act for LVN's because it is a VOCATION and LVN's work under the license of the RN in charge. BTW, I enjoy dealing with our BNE office. They are professional and cooperative to me.

Seeing as how I have NOW paid for TWO licenses from the BNE, and that every time I call, I get a different answer regarding my status, I can't say I enjoy them or that I think they are professional. I guess that might change in the future. Last I heard, I was getting a refund for one of the two RN licenses that I have paid for, and my temporary license was being printed that very day. We shall see.
