Block Classes or Segmented?

U.S.A. Texas

For those who have experienced each type of Foundations of Nursing scheduling do you prefer the Block Schedule where the entire class, lab, and skills are lumped into (8)-(10) credits, or do you prefer the Segmented schedule where the class is (5) cr, and the lab is (3), and skills (1) credit. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each. Furthermore, is it better to have Maternal, Child, and Psychological Nursing all in the first year, and then hone the skills, or to have Mental, and Maternal the second year. Do you think that one method will produce better NCLEX results?

I can't help you with your question, since when I wen tot school we didn't have any choice.................

BUT please post the same question only on one site.............not multiple, it makes it hard for follow through when you have answered on one site, then later on go to review and your name isn't there with the same answer, it will make it easier on everyone including yourself. Especially if it is something where you want to get a dialogue going..............

I was hoping to get different perspectives from a cross section of groups, I figured that not everyone reads all sections.

If not sure where to put something, just put it in the general section. You will find that you will get many more responses that way. Personally, if I see the same question in several different posts by the same person, I don't answer it........................

Hope that this helps.................. :balloons:

(Even the moderators have posted about the same thing----so it is not just my opinion.)
